Project 365 week 17

Updated on February 3, 2012

After last weeks so so performance, I was desperately trying this week to redeem myself. One of these will actually make my top 50 pics I am sure- so I am thinking that not all hope was lost in my photo abilities.

Day 114

Trying another refection image. Not sure why I have so many issues with these types of photos. I keep trying but they never quite turn out to be the same image I am actually seeing. This photo was taken at a museum called the Avenue of the 444 flags. To remind us to the US hostages that were held for 444 days.

Day 115

My dog, Kelly, is nothing if not patient with us. The Santa hat is probably not her favorite thing, but I am sure that she does enjoy the attention from the kids when we put it on. This particular photo seems to show the limits though of her acceptance of this tradition. I can look at this picture and just hear her say "Realy?"

Day 116

Christmas day was a green one this year. Usual for northwestern Pa. We are scheduled to have snow tomorrow and the sky was filled with big puffy storm clouds and incredible hues of blue. I so wish I had a wide angled lens when I take a photo like this... definitely on the wish list. BUT the great news is, my husband and kids got me a backdrop set and lighting for my present :) Yahoo- now I can start actually trying to take portraits without hanging a sheet from my ceiling!

Day 117

This is one of my favorite photos. The cresent moon and since star really came out cool with my star filter. I am liking this lens filter more and more as I use it. I definitely recommend getting a couple if you like a quick and easy effect. I have a 4, 6, and 8 point now (I used the 8 point in this photo) Like I have said before- I do not use them for every photo... but for pictures like this one- it turned a so so plain pic into something I really liked

Day 118

Today I decided to see if I could get a good photo of the snow falling. Unfortunately for me, by the time I was able to get around to taking a photo of the day it had turned into this nasty sleet/ rain/ snowy yuck. Still determined to try to capture something to do with the weather I went in search of a unique style light post. I set my camera to a slower shutter to capture the movement of the water and when I snapped the photo- the wind kicked up. It offered a neat effect, so this is the one I decided to go with

Day 119

The local boot store has all sorts of stuffed animals and displays so I decided to try to take a photo of one of them. Several of my friends who follow my project are from this area but are now living far away and enjoy seeing the old sights. I try to include objects in my photos they would recognize,... things unique and special to our small town.

Day 120

Another nautical themed day. With the weather turning to our normal snowy and bitter cold, my thoughts keep drifting to the warm summer days on the beach. Several rooms in my house are decorated with this OBX beach type theme and I really enjoy being in them especially when the weather outside is less than ideal for shorts and a tank top.

Week 17 is complete

One more week down and very little time left in the year 2011... I look forward to the new year and all the photo oppurtunities that it will bring.

Until next time
