Raindrops...A Few of my Favorite Things
What about Raindrops?
What about raindrops attract me to them? Well, for one, my passion is really macro photography. So I always focus on the tiniest things, things that we hardly pay any attention to. Discovering something new about an ordinary thing gives me a kind of high. Then presenting this something new in my photos makes my day. I always love it when somebody tells me “why didn’t I see that before?”
The second reason why I am attracted to raindrops is they are so refreshing. They remind me of what is pure and clean in this world. They make me feel one with nature and one with God and that makes my heart sing. Call it corny or cheesy or whatever, but that is how I feel.
Raindrops are like Jewels
Raindrops Songs and Poem
Raindrops make me want to write a poem or break into a song. However, I am neither poet nor singer so I’ll just quote some songs and poem here.
My favourite is of course Julie Andrew’s song, “My Favorite Things” which I used as my title for this hub. The line goes... “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...these are a few of my favourite things...”
There is also the song – “Raindrops keep falling on my head...”, the theme song from the movie, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.
Many raindrop songs are sad. But I guess people usually don’t want others to know their sadness, so they do their crying in the rain as how the Everly Brothers sang...
never let you see
The way this broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride
And I know how to hide
All the sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain...
...Raindrops falling from Heaven
Could never wash away my misery...”
Tasting The Raindrops
I tasted the raindrops like I never had before
It was worth every second of bliss
Every time I think of that moment
I think of my raindrop kiss
The Many Faces of Raindrops
Can we count the ways by which we see raindrops? I can’t. So I keep taking their photo.
The freshness they bring and the images they reflect can serve as mirrors of our world. Their vulnerability even to a gentle shake also reminds me of my own vulnerability. But they never cease to inspire and to remind me of my role in this world.
By the way, I also wrote about raindrops in my happiness blog.
