A3 Rotring College Drawing Board For Artists
Rotring Drawing Board
Rotring has a range of drawing boards of varying sizes, but the one that I have is an A3 sized college drawing board and this is the best drawing board I have ever bought and I've owned 3 so far, I have a larger A2 size drawing board that takes up a lot of space and I find that I use this A3 board more and the best thing is it's lightweight and I can take it anywhere, even on the toilet to do some sketching, although no life drawing whilst in the toliet as I might disappoint the ladies haha!
This Rotring drawing board made in Germany has a ruler that you can set to your desired level to draw and measure straight lines and is perfect for some technical drawing and specific scaling of drawings. My single best use for this drawing board is to mark out and draw comic book pages and nice and tidy panels of art using the clip provided. The ruler locks into place and provides a solid support for creating nice and even lines of art.
Currently at the moment, Amazon doesn't supply the Rotring college drawing board, but there are plenty of alternatives for the artist,in particular the Alvin and the Helix range are something similar to the Rotring board and are desk portable and ideal for using as a great drawing surface. One of the tings that made me buy a drawing board was the fact that just simply using a sketch pad to draw on was becoming tiresome and uncomfortable.
Different areas of work are required to change your routine I think. I have my A2 drawing board and my A3 Rotring drawing board and a home made drawing board made out of MDF wood and on thinking about it each has it's own uses, the A2 board being the place that I do certain work like comic book drawing and ideas and concepts with some exploration into mark making and paint work.
My A3 drawing board is where I draw and sketch lots of stuff and it's become my number one drawing board because of it's portability and it's durability. And also I can sit almost anywhere and place the board on my knee and sketch away without becoming strained by using a sketchpad.
Make the right decision when you buy your own drawing board, it has to fit all of your needs.
