Introduction

The Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale Arizona is a unique event which occurs every winter. The 2013 event takes place between January 12th and March 24th. The event is a juried show in that a panel of experts selects and invites 100 of the best artists in the country to exhibit. It is more than just an exhibition though, as visitors get to see artists actually making the work which is displayed, as well as talk to and interact with them in person. 2013 marks the 23rd year of this hugely successful event. Emerging as well as renowned artists are involved, making this an event for both serious art collectors and first time buyers alike.

History

The event was started by a couple who were very passionate about fine art, Tom and Anne Morrow. The first show was launched in 1990 and it was an attempt to allow art lovers to witness and interact with art in a different way to the conventional way of simply viewing it at exhibitions. At the time, the show lasted for eight weeks and it received excellent reviews and thousands of visitors. Today, the show is managed by Susan Morrow Potje, the daughter of the husband and wife team who set it up, and her husband Jake.

What to Expect

Many reviewers report the event to be akin to visiting 100 of the best artist studios, all under one roof. As you are walking around, you get to see witness the process of making art first hand and interact with some of the best artists in America. A wide spectrum of art media is covered in the 40,000 square foot venue. Witness traditional painting and sculpture in action and enjoy beautiful photography, jewelery and furniture design.

The exhibition is housed in huge white tents and a landscaped, one acre courtyard displaying sculpture for outside use can be found there.

Art for Sale

Although everything at the exhibition is for sale, there is no pressure to buy and there are no high powered sales people walking around trying to turn spectators into customers. The atmosphere has been described as comfortable and relaxed while at the same time being exciting and filled with passion for art and true artists. Prices reportedly range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, so there is something for everyone.
