Shin Tanaka Paper Toys

Updated on December 18, 2017

Shin Tanaka Paper Toys

Shin Tanaka is a graffiti artist who was looking for a canvas for his street art. When he could not find one, he made his own out of paper. His creations combine two elements: Origami and Street Culture.

As one who appreciates the art of the doll, the paper doll designs by this artist are truly noteworthy.

Shin Tanaka

The art of Shin Tanaka inspires creativity. Street artists enjoy interaction with the elements.

Mr. Tanaka's toys are designed to engage his audience. As an educational tool, Tanaka's paper robot patterns are available on his web site where you can download a design to build your own robot.

Tanaka encourages people to use his patterns, create robots of their own, and share them with the world on his web site.

"His passion for paper began with the familiar disposition of having no money as a student. He couldn't afford his favorite sneakers so he made life-size paper versions of them. This caught the attention of many people, most notably the shoe companies he was imitating. Since then, he has collaborated with big brands such as Nike and Adidas, and should no longer have a problem procuring his favorite shoe."

      I found Shin Tanaka´s work in the WE ARE PAPER TOYS book which I found fascinating and I made my first design with the help of another great book, URBAN PAPER. Making paper toys is a great fun, thanks for the information you have collected about this great toy maker.

      There are many things that go into creating an object of art;

      Relevant ingredients and corresponding implements apart.

      Devotion, dedication, perseverance of the artist for the work,

      Self belief and an imagination that, at will, can go berserk.

      Shin Tanaka! Shin Tanaka!
