Sketching Art: My Drawings Bored at Work

Updated on August 24, 2018

Collection of Art

Here is a small collection of drawings I did to pass some time at work. There is a variety of stuff and everything was done in pen and pencil.

Gorillaz Gang!

Who are the Gorillaz Characters?

There are 4 gorillaz members. If you go search online you will find tons of amazing images of these characters. Murdoc Niccals is the green satanic worshiping bass player, 2-d is the black-eyed lead singer with blue hair and missing teeth, Noodle is the female Japanese guitarist, and Russel Hobbs is the black drummer with the white eyes.

So again left with some time in between calls I decided I would give it a go and attempt to draw them. I usually sketch first in pencil, make corrections, then finish everything off with a regular black pen.

The image above is my end result.

L from Death Note

Risking your life and doing something that could rob you of your life are exact opposites.

— L ("Hard Run")

If you're into anime like I am then you have definitely heard of death note. If you haven't then I strongly recommend you give it a try. This drawing is just something done quick that I personally like.

So a little about this character:

L is quite secretive, and only communicates with the world through his assistant, Watari. He never shows his face to the world in person, instead representing himself with a capital letter L drawn in "Old English MT" or "Cloister Black" typeface. It is more likely to be "Cloister Black" as Watari's "W" is different in "Old English MT".

L is also very intelligent, though his disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction and many question his abilities upon viewing him. L tends to second-guess everything he is presented with, and is extremely meticulous and analytical.

Sunflower Drawing

Did Not Expect It To Turn Out Like This

I know my girlfriends favorite flower is a sunflower. So I thought I would draw something for her at work and show her once I was done. As time passed I kept drawing and drawing, adding more detail, fixing small mistakes. Before I knew it I was almost done and I really did not expect it to turn out like this. I usually have a hard time with flowers for some reason but I guess I didn't on that day. This is the final result.

How To Draw A Realistic Eye

Sephiroth, Zack and Cloud from Final Fantasy VII

All time favorite RPG!

Every RPG lover has either played or watched someone play a final fantasy game. Well this one to this day remains one of the most popular. Final fantasy 7 to this day still remains my all time favorite rpg. The story is simply amazing.

Characters in my drawing:

Cloud Strife

I pity you. You just don't get it at all... there's not a thing I don't cherish!”—Cloud to Sephiroth in Advent Children

Cloud was born in the mountain village of Nibelheim, and was neighbors with Tifa Lockhart. His father died when he was young and he was raised by his mother. As a child, Cloud had no close friends and perhaps as a coping mechanism, convinced himself he was superior to the other village children and so didn't care for their company. He had a crush on Tifa, but hated her friends, calling them immature. Although the two consider each other (and are considered by others) to be childhood friends, by Tifa's own account they were not close growing up, despite him having been her neighbor.

I knew ever since I was a child, I was not like the others. I knew mine was a special existence. But this is not what I meant!”—Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII

Sephiroth was born to Professor Hojo and Lucrecia Crescent approximately twenty-seven years before Final Fantasy VII (exact date of birth unknown). Before Sephiroth's birth, Hojo and Lucrecia were working as assistants to Professor Gast, Shinra Electric Power Company's top scientist, on the Jenova Project. The project studied the remains of an extra-terrestrial entity known as Jenova, who was mistakenly thought to be one of the Cetra, an ancient people who had the power to "talk to the Planet". Hojo injected cell samples from Jenova into the pregnant Lucrecia and her unborn baby. Lucrecia carried Sephiroth to term, his fetal form merging with the Jenova cells as he developed. After the baby was born, he was taken away from Lucrecia by Shinra scientists. She never even had a chance to hold her child.

Zach Fair

SOLDIER 2nd Class Zack, on the job!”—Zack Fair

Zack, assumed to have been born in the town of Gongaga, had childhood dreams of joining SOLDIER to become a 1st Class. At the age of thirteen Zack left Gongaga without telling his parents, and joined the Shinra's military forces

This One is Quite Random

Random at its Finest

Well this one is kind of hard to explain. Started as a doodle and ended like this. This is what happens when you have a pen a pencil and too much time on your hands.

Vivi from Final Fantasy IX

Vivi Ornitier the Clumsy Black Mage

Final Fantasy IX is the ninth installment in the Final Fantasy series. After two Final Fantasy installments that featured an increasing sci-fi slant, Final Fantasy IX was intended to return the series, at least temporarily, to its more fantasy-oriented roots. The characters, who had been depicted in an increasingly realistic fashion in previous Final Fantasy games, were deliberately rendered in a more cartoonish fashion to reflect this return to tradition. Among the most notable Final Fantasy traditions is the presence of black mages, represented foremost by the playable party member Vivi; other black mages appear as a crucial element of the storyline.

No more. I won't let you make any more instruments of murder!”—Vivi

Vivi is clumsy, shy and gullible, almost to a fault. Often stumbling over his speech and lacking in self confidence, he is afraid to use his magic to save his friends, believing himself incapable. During his journey his personality develops and Vivi gains confidence and bravery in the face of danger. Despite his new-found confidence, Vivi still questions his existence and finds he must find answers to some of the big questions in life himself, instead of relying on others' help.

Daft Punk & Deadmau5

Had Some Fun With This One

Looking at pictures of Daft Punk & Deadmau5 gave me some pretty cool ideas for a drawing. I spent quite some time looking at images, and then combined my ideas to come up with this.

Sketching Basics By Brandon Schaefer

Cloud's Armor Emblem

Tattoo Idea In My Opinion

This emblem is found on Cloud's armor in Final Fantasy VII. Really liked the look of it and even considered it as a tattoo idea. This emblem is seen on his armor in Final Fantasy Advent Children, this is not on his armor in the game.

Ichigo From Bleach

Another Anime Drawing

This is a drawing of Ichigo Kurosaki from the anime Bleach.

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper (死神 Shinigami, literally, "Death God") —a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper—from another Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki. His newfound powers force him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife, and set him on journeys to various ghostly realms of existence.

"...If fate is a millstone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel, then give me a strong blade, and enough strength... to shatter fate."

Ichigo Kurosaki in "MALA SUERTE!"

Star Wars Stormtrooper

"The Empire has a legion of loyal soldiers that are in endless supply."―Darth Vader

Stormtroopers were the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire. Like Imperial-class Star Destroyers and TIE fighters, stormtroopers served as ever present reminders of the absolute power of Emperor Palpatine. These faceless enforcers of the New Order were considered an extension of the Emperor's will, and thus they often used efficient yet usually unreasonable tactics as a way to keep thousands of star systems throughout the galaxy in line. At the height of the Empire, stormtroopers had effectively become symbols of major authority and terror. With few exceptions, they were distinguished from all other military units by their signature white armor.

Always loved Star Wars which inspired this drawing.
