Snowshoes - An Old Portage Method
Snowshoes Hanging on a Wall
Rustic cabins feel cozy and there is just something nostalgic about hanging things on the wall reminiscent of a time past. Snowshoes are one such item.
Back in the 1960/1970ish range, I met a few people who did use snowshoes in the winter. In northern Minnesota, they were used to walk across deep snow. Where an ordinary boot would sink your boot thigh deep, snowshoes would keep you on top of the drift.
Walking in them was an acquired skill. Lift up toe, drag heel, drop down. Repeat with other foot.
I'm almost inspired to learn how to make them. Miniature ones.
