O Sleep, O Gentle sleep...

Watching a loved one sleep and wondering what they are dreaming is a pleasant preoccupation. Sleep and its myriad dreams are still a subject of fascination for us. It forms a rich seam that artists can draw upon.

While I am no stranger to dreams and their ever changing narratives, somnolence is not something that comes easy to my insomniac existence.

Ironically, this poem is an output of another sleepless night.

Wouldn't it be an ultimate expression of love if we could literally share our dreams? Escape into each others pleasant fantasies; wander hand in hand among the dreamscapes together, looking for magic and memories, far from the maddening crowd...

The Art of Sleep

Where Angels Dream

Sitting by the window

I am watching you sleep

Cuddled up and cosy

While I am counting the sheep

The sound of your breathing

Is so gentle and slow

Those ruby lips are parted

And your face it does glow

You reign across the bed

You take all the space

You adorn the sheets

Softly in velvet and lace

Will you give me room

In your kingdom of bliss

Will you hold me tight

Gift me a lingering kiss

Take me as you fly among the clouds in your sky

Take me as you drift along a contented sigh

Take me where the moonlight casts a silvery gleam

Take me where the sandman dwells and joy reigns supreme

Down the timeless stream

Where angels dream…

♥♥♥

I want to visit places

In those faraway lands

Where mystery and magic

Hide in forbidden sands

I want to travel dreamscapes

That I want us to share

I want this to be more than

Just a casual affair

Let me in your dreams

And I’ll share with you mine

Let’s not let the fading night

Just draw us a line

I walk across the room

And I slip into bed

You sigh and shift close to me

As I kiss your forehead

Take me as you fly among the clouds in your sky

Take me as you drift along a contented sigh

Take me where the moonlight casts a silvery gleam

Take me where the sandman dwells and joy reigns supreme

Down the timeless stream

Where angels dream…

♥♥♥

Amazing......so very beautiful & gentle. I do have a fascination with dreams. I spend time "thinking" about what I have dreamed.....what it may mean or how to find a message within it.........Phil Collins sings the perfect song to accompany your lovely words, Docmo. I

      I enjoyed this...thank you.

Simply beautiful.... to watch someone sleep is to see them at their most vulnerable. and yet the one sleeping is at such peace. to sleep close to another is such an intimate experience. the only way to be closer would be to enter into each others dreams. i imagine that would be like heaven. ... i absolutley adore the way you dwell on details and speak of faraway lands and, well, the stuff of dreams. the imagery is sublime. reading this and taking it in evokes the peaceful feeling that comes just before sleep.... lovely images as always.

Doc, this poem is absolutely beautiful! I was right with you, floating in the mist of dreams and the escape they provide. You bring up a wonderous thought. It would be magical to enter into each other's dreams. What an awesome flight that would be!

Absolute beautiful! I don't know how you do it. You infuse the best music and songs with the many paintings in your video. And, where you found all the paintings for this video - they are just perfect. So sensual and lovely. I thought I knew all of Goya's paintings, but the one you have in the video I have not seen before, or if I have I don't remember it. Your poetry is beautiful also. So sorry to hear about your sleepless nights, but they have been a benefit to us in this beautiful piece of work. I wish you the best and I hope more nights of sleep and peace. Voted up!

Docmo - How uncanny that this awesome creation came about due to your insomnia. I can not effectively select the proper words to thoroughly describe how awesome this entire creation is. Excellent choice of music (Phil Collins) to accompany such lovely sleep artwork. The poetry is sublime while the lyrical message matches our wish for "one more night". I often wish we could do exactly what you describe - how wonderful it would be to reach out and grasp our deceased loved ones hands and stroll hand in hand through the dream landscape. Someday....

So beautiful and I thank you for sharing this. Voting up and sharing everywhere.

I echo Maria's sentiment. We tend to think doctors do not have these human feelings, so this is particularly refreshing. Beautiful.
