Travelling and Working on Summer Crochet Patterns
When you are a crocheter, it does not matter what time of year it is, you want to be working on some crocheting. But chances are you are going to want to work on summer crochet patterns when it is summer instead of some of the heavy projects that you work on in the winter. But if the summer crochet patterns are wearable, then you may prefer to work on them in the winter.
As a lot of us travel in the summer, it is a good idea to not only work on light projects but to work on those summer crochet patterns that lend themselves easily to travel. This might be light and small items such as shawls, small blankets, clothing articles or different types of squares to be put together at a later date. Afghans or summer sweaters can be travelled with if they are ones that you make in smaller pieces and then put together.
Depending on the mode of transportation you are using for your holidays will determine what type of summer crochet patterns that will be easy to work on when travelling.
Vehicle
If you are in the vehicle, you will have the most room of all for your summer crochet patterns, even if it does not seem like it. This is mainly due to the fact that you can move around and you don’t have to worry about other people being in your space or where your elbows may end up. Of course, how many people are in the vehicle with you will have some bearing in determining what summer crochet patterns will be easy to work on.
Bus
A bus is not much different than a vehicle when it comes to the amount of space you have to work on your summer crochet patterns. But if you are lucky, no one will be sitting beside you and you can spread out a bit. But when selecting summer crochet patterns to travel with, you will not know what the seating plan is like so it is best to keep to small projects.
Train
Depending on where you live, the train may be a method of transportation that you may use to get around. From my experience riding trains, you will not have a lot of room to work on your summer crochet patterns so it may be best to pick something small such as socks or dish clothes that do not need a lot of room. This is a good place to work on those simple crochet patterns as well.
Plane
The plane may be one of the hardest places to work on your summer crochet patterns as there is not a lot of room for anything beyond your own body. And if the person in front of you puts down their seat, you cannot do much more than breathe. When picking a summer crochet pattern for working on in the plane, it is definitely best to pick a small project that is easy to work on and does not require a lot of concentration.
Travelling can be a great time to work on summer crochet patterns as you can have blocks of time to work on your craft, but you are limited to what you can work on due to space constraints. Stick to small summer crochet patterns such as socks or small clothing articles that are easy to transport and do not require a lot of space.
