Photographic Images Where?

Updated on May 22, 2011

What, Another Electronic Photograph Album Type Hub

Electronic Photograph Hub! No thank you,

This is not another of those long hubs page after page of nubile images, seductively posed, airbrushed images that scroll on for what feels like eternity, interposed with those cute comments on their various attributes. Needless to say the only thing lacking in the majority of those comments is the relative breast silicone implants model number and their Plastic Surgeons details.

This Hub Is About How To Enjoy Your Photograhs

Today, the digital technology has opened up so very many wonderful ways or presenting photographs, that previously could not be achieved. The simplest and most common is the ability to print directly to plain paper, and not specialised photo sensitive papers and media.

This alone opens up such a vast range ot ways that photographs can be enjoyed and displayed.

An Example of Displaying Photographs

A misty cascading Waterfall

With the aid of a good printer, most of your major printers that create vinyl banners and the likes are capable of producing any of these outputs, at a cost of course.

Is this something that would look good in a room in your house, or even office, think about wallpapering.

Provided You Supply a Good Quality Photo

Then you will be able to convert this stunning photo into wallpaper, which with the aid of the correct bonding paste will transfer an entire wall of your humble home into a dreamy relaxing backdrop.

The only limitation would be that the subject of the picture would be something that you would like to live with for several years. Also that the soft furnishings would not clash.

A final note, remember that this is larger than life once affixed and then is the wall.

Another type of printed display

Downloaded a photo, which was captured as a large and fine format, I inserted it a blank Microsoft Excell file, and printed it.

The resulting thirty six A4 landscape pages of printed output was indeed stunning. I had mounted it onto a large sheet of cardboard, you can well imagine a photograph in six pages across and six pages deep of glossy colour print.

I had given this away to a friend, who has subsequently left the country, and I have not taken a picture of it.

I am now contemplating the creation a screen wall using the same method, however, the output will be a more tranperant type of material, there again the choice subject choice would be key.

Art photographs on canvas

Another way of displaying your favourite photographic study, would be to have printed onto a canvas, stretched and framed, as any other masterpiece, which your photos invariable are.

The common sizes are A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0

Then you can always make a large poster and block mount them.

Change the colour balances and create unique photos

How many other ways of displaying your art.

If you search the web, there are many sites such as Zazzle, and Cafepress, on which you can load your photographs, create finished goods such as tshirts, coffee mugs aprons, keyrings and host of other items.

So do not be boring, look at your photos, and explore with your imagination.

Remember that with digital you can print on a myriad types of material.

Even your home printer attached to your PC, does not need paper, you do have other materials, which are like paper that can be used.

How About a Large Banner

A more durable and novel method of covering the wall in your playroom or bar is have the photo blown up to a meter by 2 meter banner, this can be used for display advertising, or just to hang in your hangout area.

In South Africa we have outside lapa's, which is really a crude form of shelter near the pool and BBQ or braai area. It comprises of usually between six or eight upright gum-pole posts cemented into the ground, a thatched roof is then built on top of these posts, and you have a lapa.

With a nice vinyl 1m x 2m photograph you will create a windbreak, an it could fit in with the overall scheme of your garden. A practical use, and as the vinyl is normally UV protected the image would last even in the harsh African sun.

Nowdays - Photo Albums

You have returned from holiday and are dying to show off where you where, and being an average sort of person, to also brag about the technology of the equipement that you used to capture the image with, and if you are in anyway computer literate, what programs you used to create the presentation package.

You have added credits and sound and made an overall impressive presentation.

Or even one better, to flash one of those little black boxes, that new state of the art portable gadget you can carry around with you, and show of all of those photographs.

These would then be written to a CD or DVD, and the covers made.

My Holiday in ...............

Not So Long Ago

You would be back from holiday for nearly a week, when you would have been able to afford to go and pick up the prints from the one hour lab.

These prints would then be carefully viewed and selected, and enlargements would be ordered. A suitable album would be chosen.

Then all of the pictures would carefully be placed in the order of the entire trip and affixed to the blank pages, captions added and images carefully laid down to record the chronicle tale.

A New Life For Photographs

Then came scrap-booking, a reinvention of those good old fashioned collages, as well as Logbooks, either of Boy Scouts of Hikes and Camps and Jamborees, or of boating, flying and rally's and other adventure type activity.

The collages

Which were lovingly created, I am sure, by all our mothers and there mothers before them put them together, for there own personal and usually private enjoyment.

On special anniversaries of various occasions, the collage would carefully be taken out and viewed, and more than likely a sentimental tear would be shed, as these were very private and intimate moments.

These collages usually had bits and pieces of items as well locks of hair that were very much part of theperson, whose image had been captured and frozen in time. All these were lovingly and carefully stored, for the pleasure or sorrow of the beholder who had created that special permanent memento.

Modern day scrap-booking is now more of a commercial vogue and a major current art form. the special books, papers and embellishments that go together to chronicle an or any event, I am sure a lot of work and a whole lot of pleasure and fun is derieved from this hobby.

In the end they are too put aside, preserved and labeled

Traditional Is Anything but Boring

If you are a wizz at the older forms keeping photographs alive, in well documented albums, and continue to maintain an up to date dairy in the photographic records of your life, and daily events. Then you are truly a modern day historian, preserving and keeping up modern history as it is being made.

Your childrens children will be amazed at your archives, long after you have handed those albums onto the future generations.

The world still needs you, as you hold up our past in your hands.
