Addi Knitting Needles
The Addi Family of Premium Knitting Needles
Addi knitting needles are the best quality metal needles available today. Addi started making their Turbo needles from nickel plated brass, a material never before used in knitting needles. The needles are very smooth, letting stitches glide easily over the needles. Attention to the other parts of the circular needles quickly made Addi Turbo circular needles the premium knitting needle available.
Addi has expanded their line, offering a variety of different types of needles for different uses. In this article, we'll discuss those types, and how to get the most out of your Addis.
Poll: Have You Ever Tried Addis?
While many knitters have used Addis, and many of those have fallen in love with them, there are plenty of knitters who have not. What about you?
Do You Use Addi Knitting Needles?
Addi Click Interchangeable Needle Kit - A luxury knitting gift
Interchangeable knitting needle kits give the knitter a quick, portable way to have a wide variety of needle sizes. The set comes with two points of each of a variety of sizes, and cables to attach to the points. Put a point on each end of a cable for a circular needle. With some sets, you can join cables to make very long needles. With a few sets, you can put a point on one end and a stop on the other for a flex (jumper) needle. Many sets need a tiny tool to attach the points to the cable.
Addi Click needle sets also come with extra-sharp lace points, or bamboo Natura points. All components of all sets are interchangeable.
You can also buy extra cords separately.
Different Types of Addis
Turbo, Lace, Bamboo
Addi makes three different types of knitting needles. They are designed from different materials, with different purposes, all with the same high Addi quality.
Addi Turbo: These are the original nickel plated brass needles, with points designed for standard knitting.
Addi Lace: These are also nickel plated brass needles, but the tips are shaped to work the complex decreases and yarn overs of lace knitting. They are a bit longer and sharper than Turbos.
Addi Natura Bamboo: Natura is Addi's line of bamboo needles, with brass fittings where the bamboo meets the plastic cable.
Addi Turbo Circular Needles
Addi Turbo needles are the "gold standard" in circular needles. They were Addi's first product.
Each needle has two nickel plated brass tips in the Turbo design joined by an extremely flexible plastic cable. The needles come in lengths (tip to tip) from 20cm (8") to 150 cm (60") and in point sizes from US 000 to US 50 (not all point sizes are available in all lengths.
Below are a few sizes of Addi Turbo circular needles. To find other sizes, click on any needle listed and browse on that page for different lengths and point sizes.
Did You Know?
Circular needles can be used to knit back and forth by turning at the end of each row.
Addi Lace Needles - With Specially Shaped Points
If you have ever knitted lace, you know you need a knitting needle with a point that can dig into and manipulate several stitches at once. The tips on Addi Lace needles are designed just for this job! Of course you can use them for other knitting as well, but if you knit lace, you should try these to see if they work well for you.
In other respects, they are the same as Turbos -- same nickel plated brass and ultra-flexible cable. Lace circular needles are available in sizes US000 to US 11 with cables from 40cm (16") to 120cm (47") long
Addi Natura Knitting Needles - Bamboo at Its Best
Addi Natura needles are Addi's offering in the wood/bamboo category. Like all wood and bamboo needles, Naturas are lighter in weight, with a "warmer" feel. Some knitters prefer these needles to metal, as they say the metal needles hurt their hands.
As usual with Addi, they have carefully designed the Natura needles. They are smoothly finished, with a brass socket at the cable join. Natura circulars come in lengths from 40cm (16") to 150cm (60") and sizes from US2 to US 17. [Smaller wood/bamboo needles break easily.]
Addi Straight Knitting Needles - Old Fashioned Knitting Needles, High-tech Production
