Learn to Crochet With Me
My Basket of 'Tricks'
Originally I was only going to make this a page for all the crafts I do or have done. The reason for the 'craft Cat' in the link, is for that reason plus the invitation to join the craft club came along and so I just tweaked the page just to be for crochet.
I'm pretty new at it, as I may mention later on that I found a project I wanted to do so I asked my Nana if she could show me how to do it. I Pretty much had it done, however, I didn't care for the colors (as I only had 2 at the time, and she gave me a light blue to start with on the flower. WEll you know light colors get dirty looking faster, and from making mistakes and so on I just pulled it out of the center of the flower so I just have to redo that but think I need a refresher as to how to do other rows to close off the center.

I don't know what this page came from, as my Nana gave it to me (Dec 21st, 2013); but I thought it would help you as well. I have not yet tried this as I am still working on what my nana taught me to crochet for.. those pop top flowers.
I'm still trying not to make the loops and such so tight. I do hope this will be helpful for you in anything you'd like to make.
Really wish I learned all this more so when I was little.
(She also gave me pages on how to knit, as I used to do that as a kid and I totally forget. SO I need to start making some videos soon this way if I get off the kick, I at least (as well as you) will have a place to go to learn step by step.
& I just realized I forgot to post the 'hat' I made for the cat that was supposed to be a blanket! oh well I guess I dropped some stitches
Lessons from My Nana - Double or triple crochet
Ok maybe it's not only my grandfather I get my craftiness from, my Nana knits & croches as well so I definately take after Dad's side of the family! Here my nana will show us how to
I would suggest finding a kit like this to learn. It has insructions and the pattern of what to do
Books on how to crochet - Lucky for me I have Nana
If you do not have a family member that knows how to crochet (or even knit) then you will need a book and some videos to learn. Lucky for me, I have my Nana. I only learned crochet for a project I came across somewhere in my online travels & that was upcycling soda can pop-tops into a flower.
You need 6 of them and I will have to take a picture of the one I started (but pulled part of it off I thought I messed up a bit) but I've also been making crochet friendship bracelets as well. However to do a couple of rows I need Nan, to show me how to do that again. (That might be the reason I stopped the other project.)
a little off topic, I learned how to knit when I was a kid as well but I think I forget how to do that, as well as that mine looked like a mushroom but I forget what its called, but it looks like it makes a thick rope)
Pop Top Flower Half done
Top 6 uses for those Pop Top Flowers - well as far as I can think of
I think when I saw the project that I came up with a load of ideas for it. So that may be the reason why I wanted to try it, my creative mind doesn't stop and a lot of times it won't let me sleep I wake up with ideas that sometimes I jot down and others I don't because i'm too tired (really I wish these ideas would come during the day but it seems more my brain wakes up right before its time to go to sleep)
If you have any other ideas for them please include it in with your comment.
- Coasters
- use them as accents on clothes you've made
- make a pin
- hair clip
- as my dad may joke, a Fishing Lure
- The Gift that lasts forever
make a bouquet and give it to your mom or grandmother for mother's day
Crochet Video Tudor
Being as I just learned how to Crochet I also included a few other videos here not only for you, but to refer back to myself once I feel more comfortable (and have a larger variety of colors of yarn)
