Everything is included in this kit, the wheel, 3lb of clay 5 wooden sculpting tools, a cut-off tool, and sponge. So you will have everything you will need to get you started

The Pottery Craft has been Around for Ages

First and foremost, the pottery wheel has been around for ages, and it is designed to create even rounded projects of all different shapes and sizes.

I hope this hub will guide you on how to use the pottery wheel and the basics of using clay. Plus, what equipment that you need to get started.

First you will need to place your wheel on a small tabletop so you can move the clay on the wheel easily. It will not matter which type of wheel you have it will still allow you to create your masterpiece.

Now its time to get your hands dirty.

Tips to help you get started:

1. Prepare your clay

First you need to condition by kneading and wedging it until it is soft into a soft ball like dough. Now make yourself a cuppa while it rests for about half and hour.

2. Now the Fun Starts.

Put your hands on the outside of the wheel, ready to start spinning. Now centre it on the wheel, wet your hands and press the clay into the centre of the wheel. Now start spinning the wheel. Slowly start spinning the wheel.

3. Shape the clay

Use your hands to shape the clay into your required shape. Keeping your hands wet

When you are happy with your beautiful pot you need to let it dry. Make sure it is completely dry before painting or glazing. This could take a few days.

4. Paint or Glaze

Now you can make it look beautiful with your creative painting.

5. Fire your creation

This is where you need to place it into a kiln to set the paint or glaze.

Congratulations! That's it you have created your first piece of pottery. Now that was not so hard. Ok now it's time to make something else!
