Everyone is looking to save money in these hard times, but crocheters still want to follow their pastime. One way to do so, inexpensively, is to use all those odd balls, skeins, and scraps of yarn, find a free crochet pattern and make some toys. Crochet toys make excellent children’s, or indeed certain adults', gifts, or charities can either sell them directly or use them as raffle, or tombola, prizes to raise money. Many local charities accept crochet toys or there are many such charities on the internet. Many disaster relief charities ask that workplaces, clubs etc. fill shoeboxes for victims of natural disaster or war, a small crochet toy in a shoebox could bring so much comfort and joy to a child far away, who has lost his or her toys and let him or her know that someone cares.
