Knitting with Music

Updated on December 30, 2013

An Intersection of Knitting and Music

When you are an avid knitter living with a musician, you try to find ways to merge your hobbies (or at least design gifts for your significant other that merge them!) The result? Music Knitting Patterns!

My significant other requested that I knit dinosaurs playing guitar into his custom Custom Christmas Stocking. I was more than happy to oblige. Many other people are interested in music knitting patterns, and I have assembled a series of these free patterns in this lens.

In this lens I'll share with you both music and knitting projects that I've found are located at the crossroads of music and knitting.

Some inspiration to create a gift for your favorite musician.

I never expected to find so many songs about knitting!

What hobbies have you tried to merge?

What a clever idea. This is such a creative lens. And there is quite a surprising number of knitting songs.

As a lifelong musician and an avid knitter, I love the idea behind this lens! I haven't tried to merge any hobbies yet but I'm going to give some of these patterns a try. Thanks for such a creative lens.

This is such a fun lens!! I love the dinosaurs, they are totally something I would want in my house. I've done a little knitting but mostly just really simple stuff. Maybe I should pick up the needles again...

@anonymous: You can absolutely combine knitting with horses, from toys to saddle blankets!

I was wondering if I could combine knitting with horses and after seeing your lens I am inspired to try. I know I can combine horses with music and am making a lens about it soon.

I merge my love of knitting and crochet with my fondness for horror - so I make little Cthulhus and zombies. Great lens, loved the tunes - never heard that Arthur Askey one before!

@Rita-K: Combining knitting with glass isn't so bad... that's what beads are for! ;)

Haha, I love your "rocking" dinosaur. I started knitting couple months ago and I gave up. I really admire people who knit because I know it takes lots of patience to knit. :-)

Great resource & I love your guitar-playing dinosaurs. The only thing that I can think of that I merged is food and movies. I love good food movies and movie food! (I know that they're not really hobbies exactly but I do enjoy both subjects!)
