I bought the book Nikon D3100: From Snapshots To Great Shots to go with my Nikon D3100 camera and help me to learn to use it. I am new to SLR cameras and this book seemed like a good supplement to have.
One thing he will recommend you do is to set your image size to the biggest size. He writes that quality is more important than quantity, besides at the biggest size you can still fit 550 pictures on a 4 GB card. I bought an 8 GB card so for me that is about 1100 pictures.
