The Domestic dog

According to biology concerned with the classification of organisms into groups based on similarities of structure, origin, the dog forms part of the group of animals called Canidae( these include wolves, jackals, coyotes, dingoes, and foxes,Canis lupus familiaris or canis familiaris) is a domesticated canid which has been selectively bred for millennia for various behaviors, sensory capabilities, and physical attribute.Although initially thought to have a cosmopolitan family of carnivorous mammals that includes the wolves, jackals, foxes, coyote, and the domestic dog.originated as man made variant of anxtant canid species(variously supposed as being the dhole, golden jackal, or gray wolf ),extensive genetic studies undertaken are being carried out since last many years indicate that dogs diverged from extinct wolf like canid in Eurasia 40,000 years ago. Being the oldest domesticated animals, their long association with people has allowed dogs to be uniquely attuned to human behavior, as well as thrive on a starch rich diet which would be inadequate for other canid species.

Though we know that one of its closest ancestor is wolf, but according to some recent scientific research and evidence suggest that the Altai dog may be the forebears of today’s dogs, rather than Wolves.Domesticated dog may have evolved as mutated form of Middle eastern,East Asian or Siberian wolf or from another species of dog.

Dog can be trained to perform many roles for people, such as herding, hunting, protection, pulling loads, assisting police in criminal investigations, military in sniffing explosives etc providing companionship, and aiding handicapped individuals. That is why they are known as Man’s Good Friend.

English Mastiff

The origin of this dog breed is England, and also known as Old English Mastiff

The English Mastiff is a breed of extremely large dog perhaps descended from the ancient Alaunt and Pugnaces Britanniae, with a significant input from the Alpine Mastiff in the 19th century.

This breed is Protective, Good-natured, Calm, Courageous, Dignified, Affectionate.Adapts well to apartment living.good for novice owner, tolerates being alone, hot and cold weather. Although the Mastiff’s size makes him appear fierce, his temperament is one of good natured docility. But let danger threatens his family and he will step to protect them.

Like any dog, the Mastiff has some less attractive qualities. When he shakes that massive head, drool flies everywhere. You’ll find however, that if you let it dry, it is easily wiped away and often, however this can solved by finding a diet that produces less odorous outcome. He also snores, loudly.Very friendly to kid and dog.

Poodle

Country of origin are Germany,France.Poodles are also known as PudleCanicheBarbone In fact, the English name poodle is derived from the German word pudel, or pudelin, which means to splash in the water. And in France, Poodles are called Caniche, a name derived from chien canard, meaning duck dog.
There are three different sizes of Poodle, all considered part of the same breed: going from smallest to largest, these are the Toy, the Miniature, and the Standard. The Standard is probably the oldest of the three varieties, and some still carry on the Poodle tradition of working as a water retriever.Poodles are temperamentally very
intelligent, loving, loyal, and mischievous are four words Poodle enthusiasts commonly use to describe the breed's personality. The Poodle is also known for what his fans call "an air of distinction": a dignified attitude that's hard to describe, but easy to spot in the dog.Despite his regal appearance, the Poodle has a goofy streak and loves to play — he's always up for a game of any kind. He's also very fond of people and eager to please. The Poodle is protective of his home and family, and if strangers approach your house, he'll sound a warning bark to let you know. And although he's affectionate with his family, he may take a while to warm up to new people.

Rottweiler

Rottweiler is strong and true with a loving heart. Affectionately called Rotties or Rotts, the breed originated in Germany, where it was used to drive cattle and pull carts for farmers and butchers. That heritage is reflected in the Rottie's broad chest and heavily muscled body. When he moves, he displays strength and stamina, but when you look into his eyes you see warm, dark-brown pools reflecting a mellow, intelligent, alert, and fearless expression. Alert, Good-nature d, Steady, Devoted, Obedient, Self-assured, Courageous, Calm, Fearless, Confident. The Rottweiler dogs have been used for guarding the cows.It can attack the intruder in case he feels some danger. In order to let the dog obey orders, strict training and consistent training is necessary for them ,leadership, and a regular job to perform. When this doesn't happen, Rottweilers can become dangerous bullies rather than the companionable guardians they're meant to be.Rottweilers walk a fine line between protectiveness and aggressiveness. If they aren't carefully bred for a calm, intelligent temperament and properly socialized and they can become overly protective. That might sound like what you want, but a Rottie who lacks the ability to discriminate is dangerous to everyone he encounters, not just the bad guys.

Shih Tzu

ShishTzu’s country of origin is China and they are also known as Chinese Lion Dog, Chrysanthemum Dog and they come in Liver, Brindle, Black, Blue, White, Black & White, Gold, Dark Brown, Light Brown, Liver & White. Shih Tzu dog with gorgeous hair and beautiful appearance, small size, smart, very gentle, is a popular domestic dogs.
The Shih Tzu is a sturdy, lively, alert toy dog with long flowing double coat. Befitting his noble Chinese ancestry as a highly valued, prized companion and palace pet, the Shih Tzu is proud of bearing, has a distinctively arrogant carriage with head well up and tail curved over the back. Although there has always been considerable size variation, the Shih Tzu must be compact, solid, carrying good weight and substance.
Shih Tzu is an affectionate, happy, outgoing house dog who loves nothing more than to follow his people from room to room.
With his flowing hair sweeping the ground and his topknot elegantly tied, the Shih Tzu does appear snobbish, suited only for lying about a palace on silk pillows. Nothing could be further from the truth, however. Shih Tzus are beautiful, but they are also friendly, lively, devoted companions. The Shih Tzu personality is enormously appealing, and even grudging dog observers find it hard to resist this breed. The Shih Tzu simply doesn't allow anyone to ignore him. He was bred to be a friendly companion — he doesn't hunt, or guard — and that's what he is. He loves nothing more than to meet and greet friends and strangers alike. Count on a Shih Tzu to make friends wherever he goes.Interestingly, the Shih Tzu is sometimes called the Chrysanthemum Dog, a nickname that describes the way the hair on his face grows out in all directions — he looks like a flower with a nose for the center. One unique characteristic of the Shih Tzu is his undershot bite. His lower jaw is slightly wider than the upper, and the upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth, rather than outside, when his mouth is closed.

Siberian Husky

Country of origin is Siberia,Russia and also known as Chukcha, Chuksha, Husky, Icee, Sibe. With a thick coat that comes in a multitude of colors and markings. They come in Black, Red, Silver, Grey, Brown, White, Black & White, Black & Tan, Copper, Agouti, Sable, Splash, Piebald Their blue or multi-colored eyes and striking facial masks only add to the appeal of this breed. It is easy to see why many are drawn to the Siberian's wolf-like looks, but be aware that this athletic, intelligent dog can be independent and challenging for first-time dog owners Many have fallen in love with the wild nature and pride of Huskies, but are unaware just what this breed is truly like. This is not a breed for everyone. Their beauty often drives people to purchase them, unaware of their difficult traits, which makes many Siberian Huskies prime candidates for shelters.

The increasing popularity of the breed has led to puppy mills and backyard breeders who do not properly breed for temperament. This is having an adverse effect on the breed at large and many of the negative traits are becoming common in these ill-bred dogs, including some traits that are not normal for Siberian Huskies. Well trained Huskies with moderately compact and well furred body, erect ears and brush tail suggest his Northern heritage. His characteristic gait is smooth and seemingly effortless. He performs his original function in harness most capably, carrying a light load at a moderate speed over great distances. His body proportions and form reflect this basic balance of power, speed and endurance. The males of the Siberian Husky breed are masculine but never coarse; the bitches are feminine but without weakness of structure. In proper condition, with muscle firm and well developed, the Siberian Husky does not carry excess weight.

Chow Chow

Definitely one of the most impressive of all dogs, the Chow Chow is an awesome creature with his beautiful, lion-like appearance and royal manners.. Chow Chow puppies are so beautiful they almost look like walking toy teddy bears. It is no wonder Chow Chow is most popular and lovable dog.Almost 2000 years old ,Chinese bred Chow Chow to be an all-around working dog capable of surviving in a hostile environment.Hunting, herding, guarding ,pulling sleds, the Chow could do it all. First kept by fierce Mongolian tribes in China as hunting and guard dog, the chow was also used for their meat and fur.The true origin of the breed is unknown some historians believe it descend from ancient Roman Mastiff-type dogs crossed with Spitz types. Other believe the Chow is the ancestor of modern Spitz group of dogs as well as the Akita and Shar-Pei. The Chow's first appearance outside of China (where they are seldom seen today) was in England in the late 1800's. Sailors returning from the east brought them back in the cargo hold of the great trade ships. "Chow Chow" was a slang term applied to the large variety of items carried by these ships. Like a nickname, the term stuck to these dogs.

The two most distinctive features of the Chow Chow are its blue-black tongue and its almost straight hind legs, which makes it walk rather stilted. How the Chow got his blue-black tongue is also a mystery. A delightful old fable provides an answer: When God was painting the sky blue, He spilled a few drops as He worked. The Chow followed after, licking up the drops of paint and from that day forward, the Chow Chow had a blue tongue!

Though Chow Chow is large, stocky dog, but make exceptional house pets.Despite their size (17-21” at the shoulder, 45-85 pounds) they are very quiet, with cat like attitudes, aloof, reserved eith affection, independent, dignified and stubborn. They are friendly, well behaved, not diggers or barkers and are not destructive.Chow do however have a different personality than other dog, but they are excellent guard.

The profuse, dense, furry coat comes in two varieties, smooth and rough. The most common colors are solid red, black, blue, cinnamon and cream, but it can also come in tan, gray, or a rare white. The coat sometimes has lighter or darker shades, but is never partly-colored. The Chow Chow is a well-mannered dog. Quite good with children. If they get to know cats and other household animals when they are young, they will get along with them when they are adults.

Photographing Dogs-few suggestions

Pets, specially dogs and cats play an important role in every house, and are very popular as subjects for photography.Photographing dogs is not only a favorite hobby but requires dedication ,creativity and patience as the very fickle nature of the animal.Once has to wait with camera in hand to get a good photograph of dog in different mood to capture their character. It is a good idea to photograph the dog in their favorite spot, sitting, relaxing and in play with kids or other dogs, enjoying their much loved past time. To capture a pet’s character, you can ask yourself what is unique about your pet and try to capture that uniqueness on camera. Photographingyour pet at play is a great way to capture some interesting shots with personality. Because the animal will be moving quickly and you want to make sure the photos are free from blur, for this selecting shutter priority mode is advised,so that at a much faster shutter speed one can get a freeze action. Set the focus mode to continuous focusing, so that the lens can constantly maintain its focus on the running pet. For multiple shots use continuous shooting mode and hold down the shutter button as long as you’d like. In your pets quiet moments, after eating or bedtime for example, move in close for some dramatic and expressive shots.I prefer a standard 50-55mmlens or in other cases a 28-70mm zoom will provide many option to capture the dog in action.A blur or out of focus background is advised ,for this a larger aperture will give the better results. . Use spot metering and focus on the eyes – this area must be sharp – and avoid flash if possible, for a softer look. An uncluttered background with neutral colors is ideal because it isn’t too distracting. A good simple portrait of a pet by itself or with the owner is a classic shot. Use outdoor lighting to avoid flash, which can distract animals. Remember to be quick when taking this type of image because animals are easily distracted when outdoors.

Getting on to floor and at the same level as your pet is will give more dramatic and natural photograph.A faster shutter speed and larger aperture is necessary to get a sharp animal shot.Use of flash is not advisable as this will distract the pet and may ruin the photograph.Always try to focus the eyes, and expressions in pet’s eyes .Building a rapport with the pet is necessary for photographer. Feeding an animal first is always a good idea if shooting portraits as it leaves them relaxed. If your pet is going outside make sure you have another person helping in case they break free. Take many shots, and among-st them could be a winning image.
