Valentine Paper Mache Crafts

Updated on March 24, 2016

Heart Felt Paper Mache Crafts for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day paper mache crafts are fun, creative, frugal and easy to make! Papier mache is a simple torn paper and glue craft technique that allows anyone to make cute and romantic Valentine crafts and gifts, decorations and fashion accessories.

All you need to make Valentine paper mache crafts are clean newspapers, papier mache paste, masking tape and molds for your project plus a large table for a workspace. Paper mache is non-toxic and does not create dangerous vapors or fumes, so it's safe for children and you can work on it anywhere in your home or classroom.

How to Do: Basic Paper Mache - Easy Valentine Crafts Start with Basic Paper Mache

Paper and paste - the arts and crafts materials favored by preschoolers and paper artists alike - are all you need to create lovely paper mache Valentine decorations, gifts, mailboxes and containers. Create green and beautiful decorations, ornaments and gifts made from painted and decorated paper mache crafts.

Paper mache is a wonderful craft for recycling newspapers, cardboard boxes, telephone books and paper bags. You create a family keepsake or special gift from items you'd ordinarily toss into the trash or recycling bin.

The simplest paper mache ever starts with simple paste made with Elmer's Glue and water.

Paper mache can be a messy craft. In warm weather you can work on paper mache crafts outdoors and keep the mess out of the house; or work inside at the kitchen table or in your basement and cover the table and floors with plastic sheeting or old newspapers. Have fun making Valentine paper mache hearts, decorations, Valentine card mailboxes and more with green and crafty paper mache crafts for Valentine's Day.

Paper Mache Paste Supplies

Paper mache paste is basically a simple home made glue. You can create paper mache paste from a mixture of flour and water, or you can jazz it up by adding liquid starch or white glue to give it more strength.

Artists often use a heavy duty paper mache paste that includes sheetrock paste when they're creating large papier mache sculptures, but that's not recommended for use with children.

I use a simple version of a basic paper mache paste recipe with non-toxic white glue added. It's safe for kids and dries overnight.
