I have loved old sewing machines - especially old Singer sewing machines since I was a kid. I still love the machines, but I do most of my sewing by hand which seems funny I suppose as I collect the old machines.
It is so much fun going to estate sales and auctions and finding old treasures like old sewing machines; vintage fabrics; sewing patterns and books to add to my stash.
I have also written a page here on how-to get the most out of your auction/flea market... experience. I have been going for over 40 years and have helped out at a few as well.
"The Sewing Forum" in the UK is a wonderful place to ask your questions about old sewing machines and to learn more about how great they can be for all of your sewing projects.
Love to sew, especially vintage style sewing ?
Looking for vintage sewing patterns; fabrics; supplies or other craft items... and you are local to the Hubbard Ohio or nearby area?
There is a cute little shop that has a really nice "Craft Corner" that is filled with buttons, sewing notions, fabric, trims, patterns and much more - mostly vintage, but some are new.

But, if you are not local, they also have an online store too that has a few vintage sewing goods in it: http://organicgiftsbydiana.ecrater.com/
Vintage Buttons, Lace, and Notions Oh, My!
You can find a nice selection of vintage sewing items at small, local shops and online. These are great to freshen up an outfit or to use in making jewelry and many other crafts.
Often, you'll see vintage buttons by the bag or jar and maybe even some that are still on the original cards which are quite collectible and cost a pretty penny too.
That little shop has those as well as vintage and new lace and trims; quite a few sewing notions; odds and ends; some old sewing patterns; old and new sewing books and magazines too.

I love to sew by hand and love vintage.
Especially using great the old fabrics and notions that I find in my travels.
I can sew with a machine, but my favorite way to sew is by hand - the old-fashioned way with a needle and thread.
I don't know why, but it is a joy to create something in this way.
I make eye mask pillows, neck pillows, aprons... by hand for a business now, by request, but it all started out as a hobby that I loved.
I cannot use all of the huge stash of vintage fabrics, buttons and sewing patterns ( I don't even usually use a pattern as I make my own) that I have so I do part with some of it.
I will enjoy knowing that some of my treasured vintage sewing items will be going to others who will love them just as I do.
