Meaning of Toyota – Models of Toyota Cars - Toyota Models List – and Toyota Logo
World’s Richest Companies
Toyota is one of the world’s richest companies as well as one of the world’s largest companies. Toyota employs more than 310,000 employees. Compare this with Wall Mart Stores who has more than 2,100,000, a figure as high as the entire population of Jamaica.
Toyoda Automatic Loom Works
Toyota is a Japanese automaker company which is headquartered in Japan and has presence in almost every other country. Toyota was started in 1933 after the great depression due to worldwide money shortage and a war that Japan had with China. The Toyota Company was started under the name Toyoda Automatic Loom Works by a guy called Kiichiro Toyoda who had in 1929 traveled to US looking for an idea of how to make cars. Its no wonder their earlier vehicles has a striking resemblance to the Chevrolet and some parts were interchangeable.
Meaning of Toyota
The name Toyota therefore came from the name Toyoda. Toyoda is a family name and Toyota was therefore the business name. In Japanese, it takes 10 strokes to write "Toyoda" and 8 strikes to write "Toyota” so it is easier. Also, in Japanese, eight is a lucky number because the kanji used to write eight has the meaning of endless. By using the name "Toyota", Kiichiro Toyoda was expressing his hope for endless possibilities for his new company. And so far he and his spirits seem to be achieving exactly what he sought to achieve.
Toyota city
Kiichiro Toyoda’s business of Automatic Loom Works was based in a town called Koromo which was in a neighborhood that was a major producer of silk. Since the success of Toyota auto business, the Koromo town changed its name to Toyota city which today has a population of 500,000 people.
Toyota Symbol
Toyota today uses a logo which has three ovals. The two perpendicular inner ovals stand for mutual trust between you the customer and the Toyota Company. The two ovals also symbolize the letter “T” for Toyota. The bigger outer oval stands for the worldwide expansion of Toyota’s technology and endless potential for the future.
The Vehicle Ahead of You is a Toyota
25 years ago, in my country, we had 4 Toyota vehicles for every 10 vehicles. Today, we have 9 Toyota vehicles for every 10 vehicles – it’s no doubt the vehicle ahead of your vehicle is a Toyota. This explains how the Toyota Company has become very successful. But why is the company becoming so successful? I can only think of the following reasons:
Reasons Why Toyota is Successful
1. Workable prices for their cars
2. Excellent resale prices of Toyota vehicles
3. Availability of spare parts at workable prices
4. Interchangeability of spare parts
5. Durability of Toyota cars
6. Every other mechanic understands Toyota vehicles
7. Efficiency in consumption of fuel
I believe these are the factors that make people go for Toyota car models. You may notice the success of this company now may not be 100% tied to good after sale services.
You Can Own the Toyota Company
You too can own the Toyota Company - but why not? You can do so by buying the Toyota stock in the stock market and hold it for as long as you can to see the endless benefits of Toyota Company. Unfortunately for me I believe a stock is nothing if it’s not making me money. I usually throw them to the nearest dogs if they are not making money to me.

Toyota Car Care and Repair Manuals for You to Have
Toyota Car Recalls
In the year 2009 and 2010, Toyota has undergone serious economic problems as it struggles to keep up with huge recall cost due to problems of abrupt acceleration in Toyota cars. An abrupt acceleration occurs when the accelerator pedal locks and will never release. This result with the car crushing and in some cases causing death.
Floor Mats
A total of 9 million vehicles have been recalled by January 2010. As it is usual of many businessmen and women, Toyota at first thought they can play down this problem as just a small problem that can easily be fixed. At first it was said that the foot accelerator pedal is the one that was locking on the floor mat making the pedal to continue with acceleration even after it has been released.
Abrupt Acceleration from Electronic Throttle Control Systems
But it was to turn out that the problem is bigger than that. This problem seems to go back to 2001 when Toyota installed electronic throttle control systems. It’s either the systems software has a bug or there is some actions such as heating that may cause some electromagnetic interference with the electronic throttle control system. Whatever the cause, Toyota will have to fix sooner otherwise the resale value of their cars will drop very fast.
Brake Override Systems
Toyota plan to install brake override systems in all their
future cars. A brake override systems is a system which cuts the engine power
if the accelerator and brake are both pressed at the same time. This is not a
very difficult technology. It’s a very good safety measure when you consider
the immense danger of a locked accelerator pedal. The question is: why did they
not install a brake override systems earlier say in 1960? Now, with people being people, the next thing you may hear of is claim that thousands of
people worldwide have lost their lives from abrupt acceleration in Toyota cars.Whether that will be true or not will be another thing to occupy the media for the next few months.
