Motorcycle Radio Kits

Updated on September 5, 2010

Motorcycles naturally don't have much entertainment packages in them like a car does. It is not so necessary when you're piloting such a fun vehicle, the other reason is safety, you need to concentrate much more when riding a bike than other road vehicles due to your vulnerability.

However once a rider becomes proficient enough and especially when making long distance runs frequently (commuting to work for example) then the riding can become boring so needs an alternate distraction (which can also help many riders stay awake so despite being a safety hazard in some areas like city riding, it can assist safety when you're in the middle of nowhere.

Many Harley Davidson and Honda touring motorcycles come with built in radio functionality after all.

Smart phones can handle this with built in radio's but they can be unreliable due to their positioning and hard to adjust on the move so an actual motorcycle radio is the best way to get radio (and other music sources) on your motorcycle and make your ride more enjoyable.

Radio Jensen Motorcycle Kit

Although one of the more expensive choices, this is a fantastic bit of kit that is of higher quality to other items in this list. It has been specifically designed to withstand even the harshest road and work conditions.

It has an AUX input so you can connect your iPod or any other mp3 device. Multiple antennas can also be used, a whip style antenna is best for long distance motorcycle journeys. As well as having in built loudspeakers, there is also an area so you can connect your headphones in for example your Harley Davidson motorcycle helmet

The large buttons are easily pressed on the move with motorcycle gloves and some real thought has gone into the design for motorcycle riders.

Shark 100W USB Motorcycle Radio Kit

This black system is the Shark 100W motorcycle kit, this is the only Shark system with the in built remote being able to control FM stations.

Feedback from riders have helped design the cone shape speakers (which not only look better but give better aerodynamics if out in the wind) The amplifer has a USB slot for connectivity. It also has fast forward, rewind, skip songs and volume control. However these are small buttons and not easy to use with motorcycle gloves on.
