Abdullah Rashid has a deep love for cars and is trying to seek his passion by writing reviews about them and help people by giving true info

In this article I will be reviewing the new Seat Leon and tell you about it's new features, how it compares to it's rivals like the volkswagen golf and the Audi A3, the equipment you can get and whether or not it's worth your consideration. So stick to the review to find out.

Exterior Design

Let's start this review by talking about the looks of the new Seat Leon. So to start off the new Seat Leon looks quite different from it's predecessor and I kind of prefer the new look of the car, but still I am not a fan of how the car looks. The grill on the new Seat Leon has a shiny border though the Fr models get a grey Satan surround which in my opinion looks way better. The front of the car has an aggressive look the bumper looks sportier with sleek bits of plastic an annoying thing however is that the air intakes on the front bumper are fake.

The side profile of the new Seat Leon is quite nice in my opinion it looks super sleek with it's sharp creases. The looks of the car makes it look like a coupe rather than a hatchback. The normal version of the Seat Leon gets 16 inch alloy wheels whereas the Fr model gets 17 inch alloy wheels and grey Satan finish on the side view mirror.

The back of the new Seat Leon is quite nice and good looking. You have a roof spoiler which gives the car a sportier look and then you have the back lights which is my favorite thing on the new Seat Leon. The lights spread all the way at the back and gives the car a futuristic look in my opinion. What's not so cool about the back is that the car has fake exhaust pipes.

Interior

Let's now talk about the interior of the new Seat Leon. So the cabin of the new Seat Leon is quite nicely laid out. To say the least the cabin is quite neat and minimalist it's not all jacked up with buttons and everything is controlled through the central infotainment screen pretty much like you get in a Tesla. The dash of the car is quite nice looking as well it has a sleek and sportier look to it due to the sharp creases.

The quality of the interior is average to be honest you have cheap bits of plastic in the door bins and underneath the dash, but it's not all bad you have leather stitching in places you are most likely to come into contact with.

Engine

Let's now talk about the engine options you can get on the new Seat Leon. So the new Seat Leon comes with both diesel and petrol versions.

The petrol range starts from a 1 liter 3 cylinder turbo with 110 horsepower.

Then there is the 130 horsepower version with 1.5 liter 4 cylinder turbo.

Then there is the 1.5 liter 4 cylinder version with 150 horsepower.

And finally there is the 2 liter 4 cylinder version with a 190 horsepower.

Both the diesel versions are 2 liters one with a 115 horsepower and the other with a 150 horsepower.

There is also 1.4 liter plug in hybrid version with 205 horsepower.

Most versions of the car come with a six speed manual gear box though you can also get the 7 speed automatic one as well.

Chassis

The new Seat Leon shares it's chassis with the volkswagen golf. It comes with front wheel drive only. All versions of the new Seat Leon have torch and beam suspension what it actually means is that the rear wheels are joined by a beam rather than independent suspensions.

Fr version of the seat Leon gets stiffer suspension which is lowered by 15 mm the first edition models get adaptive dampers which you can change to sport settings for stiffer suspensions.

Practicality

Thankfully the new Seat Leon is quite a practical car, as for the room you get for the rear passengers it's more than enough you have got loads of knee and head room. If you want to carry three people in the back it's very do able the middle seat is a bit raised but still there is plenty of head room available and be over six feet will be fine. The new Seat Leon also has a decent amount of in car storage spaces you have got loads of room in the central arm rest and the glove box, as for the door bins they are huge both in the front and back.

The boot on the new Seat Leon is not that impressive though it has a capacity of 380 liters which is not quite enough for a car of this class. It has a square shape which is good but what's not so good is that it has a huge load lit which makes it difficult to load heavy items. If you want to carry longer items you have the ski hatch and the seats are three way foldable for maximum storage space.

Equipment

Let's now talk about the equipment you can get on the new Seat Leon.

The Leon range starts from the SE and that gets an 8 inch infotainment screen without satellite navigation, but it does have Android auto and apple car play apart from that it also gets basic cruise control and climate control.

The next model is the SE dynamic and that gets a 10 inch infotainment screen with satellite navigation and the digital drivers display and it gets the front and rear parking sensors.

Next up is the Fr model which gets tri zone climate control and also has two USB C ports in the back and a wireless charging pad in the front as well as scrolling indicators.

The top of the range Fr first edition gets 18 inch alloy wheels adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera.

Good Things About This Car

  • The new Seat Leon is 86mm longer than the previous model which helps make the car more roomy and comfortable for the back seat passengers.
  • Gets apple car play and Android auto as standard.
  • The new Seat can use it's braking system when you are going through corners to send power to the outer wheel because they have more grip.

Annoying Things About This Car

  • As the the new Seat lacks buttons for controlling various features such as the climate you have to look for that option through the infotainment screen which can be hard when you are driving.
  • There is no panoramic roof glass option in this car which is annoying because plenty of other cars in it's competition do get that option.

Price

Finally let's now talk about the price of the new Seat Leon. So the new Seat Leon starts from just under £20000 and higher models like the Fr one can cost about £24000.
