Roof top air on rv will run in fan mode, but burn converter up in AC mode?
If the fan is running there is no problem, but once the ac mode is engaged it burns up the converter. The previous owner did not clean the filters, ever. Has anyone ever had this problem, and what did you do to fix it?
The AC only uses the converter to operate the thermostat, so this shouldn't cause the converter to burn up unless there is a direct short in the thermostat. It's relatively simple to clean the coils in the AC if that is the problem.

I suggest you listen to Randy.
I think when you say 'converter' what you mean is COMPRESSOR.
If your indoor filter was never cleaned, then your indoor coil is likely dirty. Also, there is little doubt in my mind your condenser (outdoor) coil is dirty as well.
Kill the power, clean those coils, let it dry for a while, then turn it back on and see if it works.
