10 Benefits of using FREE Websites - Business or Blogging

Updated on June 20, 2018

Gone are the days where you had to pay hundreds of pounds or dollars for a new website. It’s useful for big businesses but for small businesses or bloggers, there is a FREE alternative. If you fall into the latter categories, are you taking advantage of this opportunity?

What’s in it for you?

1) Websites are already Designed

You can choose a design or format that suits you from a wide selection. For text, photo's and layout, you simply drag and drop. Very easy - Nothing Technical.

2) Increased Traffic with Social website buttons

These websites now come with Social Network buttons. So, at the click of a button your website page can be shared on Twitter, facebook or google1 – bringing you lots of visitors/readers.

Various Designs - Social Network buttons below...

3) Adsense Revenue / Amazon Commissions /Affiliate Commissions

Most websites Accept google ads so you can register at to receive commission on Ads. Google Adsense will Generate the html code for you – all you need to do is copy and paste it into your website. They also accept Amazon codes. You can set up an Amazon store on any page. You can also advertise (be an Affiliate to other businesses) once you are signed up, you can post their ads on your pages.

4) Easy Publishing and Re-Publishing

You can edit your website anytime, anyday and the changes will come into effect immediately. Simply edit and click on Publish. The websites also have customer support, if you have any Technical problems.

5) Submission forms / Contact Forms

This gives people/customers the opportunity to contact you via website. You can use the ready-made form or design your own form to suit you.

6) Paypal Buttons

Paypal buttons can be inserted. Either for paying for goods, for subscription or for Donations. Follow the steps when you access your paypal account or read: Add a Paypal Donation Button to your website

My Business Website (Teaching related) gives clients the option to pay online or book lessons online. 95% of them pay cash but for those who don't have it handy, I ask them to pay on the website later.

A choice of Paypal buttons

Search Engines

7) Advertising

You can submit the url (link) of your website to various search engines, such as google, yahoo, bing, aol and more - so that your website comes up in "searches". Also remember to put it on any business cards.

8) Accepts html code

You have a choice of using any animated gif online, save it under photos, or if it has a html code, copy and paste it into your website.

9) Option to have your own Domain

This means the domain belongs to you. You can customize it to your name or the name of your business.

I use Yola and have had it for over 5 years. It helps with getting Clients for Training.

It accepts Paypal, I can upload YouTube Videos on it and google Ads, which means Google pay a revenue for any Ads clicked.

10) Did I state earlier that It’s FREE.? I pay just £4.00 a month for hosting.

You can check it out here and see for yourself, if it is good value for money.

My Yola Website

Good Luck...

Thanks for this article Lady E. First I've heard about, so will check it out.

As per blogging, I decided to blog on Blogger because doesn't allow Adsense, but it wouldn't have mattered though (with the benefit of hindsight), as I earn zilch from Adsense on my Blogger blogs anyway.

Hello, I have used it. It seems safe but I would recommend Wordpress over Blogger. Thanks for stopping.

Thanks for stopping. In response to your question. Weebly and Yola have homepages - that's why I included my website for people to take a look.

Take your time. It's best to do something when you have the motivation for it. Best Wishes. :)

Lady E, thanks for sharing this most useful hub; I voted accordingly. I am hoping to get "back in the game" soon. I have been procrastinating since the hoiday season arrived, but hopefully, soon I'll get back on track. I love the hub. I have blogged on two of these sites, but right now: I am just feeling lazy !!!

I have used too many website, I am sure of course they provide a lots of benefit, but the worse part associated with these that you do not get a home page for your website, do you know any blogging platform where you can do it.

      Thanks, Your Lady Elegance...;-)

I enjoyed it. I think you should pen a summary of this as a note on Facebook, add a link to it and tag people (I'll tag others too). Most people want to get started but they don't know how.

      What do you think?

P.S: I never reach that "Blogging Guru" status o. LOL

@KingDrew - Wow... 15 Blogs. Amazing. I will check your profile to see some of them. Well done - lots of hard work though...

      Thanks for sharing that site.

@Anglnwu - thanks for your kind comments. I have to admit it took me a while. If you just do something little to it every week, it will gradually take shape over the months.... and I know you are full of creative ideas. I can see that in you Hubs.. :)

      Cheers. Take Care.

Very useful. I checked out your website and it looks fabulous. I also have a website with weebly but I'm not as good as you in making it attractive. I'll definitely have to learn from you. Lovely hub and rated up.

Great hub! I'm a huge fan of Blogger. It doesn't offer as much flexibility as a WordPress blog, but the easy integration of Adsense and the ability to purchase domains for 10 bucks makes it a quality option. I have 15 blogs hosted with Blogger, and no complaints.

** Hello Prasetio - Nice idea. I hope it works out for you. Good luck for when it changes to .com. Best Wishes.

** Hello RastaMermaid - Thanks for stopping by to share that useful advice. There are so many spammers these day, selling all sorts and posting strange things on comments. Take Care.

Awesome hub Lady_E and quite useful.

It doesn't take a pockets full of money to get started and establish a presence online. To put a buzz out about your biz and products.

You can sell your products on your own blog, you can post pictures, give description of products and a brief run down of the benefits. Also happy customers can post their comments. But set your moderation so that you can approve every comment before it seen online.

      Get hub Elena!

** Lol Ruby - Oh... he is so funny. Ps. I just remembered, Hubpages does not support animated photos which is why I didn't include him on his own. It works on other sites like, if you saved him as a file, even if it's in your Hub, he won't dance.... Aaaawh....

** Eiddwen - Thanks Eiddwen - I'm pleased you found it useful.

@icciev - Thanks for sharing your experience with weebly. I have heard a lot of good reviews for Weebly. Regards.

@WDCurry - It's a good way to test the waters and once you have got the hang of it, you could maybe have a bigger one - where you can pay for it. I like the idea of the vocational component.

@Raakachi - Aaawh... thanks. Lol. I appreciate you taking time to read my Hubs. Best Wishes.

@NicholeRLovi - Cheers Nichole - I love the layout of Webs, but it's always nice to check out other options.

I am an artist with no web presence. I have avoided the intersnare, I mean internet for years. Someday I'll tell you the story of when I worked for a gov't subsidized electronics firm that helped to invent it.

Now, I am ready to try to sell my work on line. This is a good place to start. Maybe an old dog can learn some new tricks. It can be overwhelming when you don't know what is going at all. I appreciate that you took the time, you have saved me some.

Next you can teach me how to set up a store. I will make more selling my products than I will with affiliate marketing. I hope to get too busy and add a vocational component.
