10 Tips to improve self confidence

Updated on May 4, 2012

“No one make feel inferior without your permission”. A quote signifies the importance of self confidence. Namely you should have that challenging mentality in your mind. But here I’m trying to emphasize, how much you have? The quality of your mind that born and brought up with you, the only quality of a person who already secured a descent seat in society (I mean successful person). Please note you know some successful person in your locality. He has the courage to reveal himself, I have done this much and I was right. This virtue of him we shall notice forever and we will tell our child to copy down his faiths.

Following are some useful tips to gain self confidence. And later you can test your self confidence. The corollary is that you can be successful with what you already have and what you are. The secret is to change your view about life or to tune your attitude.

Be honest yourself

Always listen to your inner voice. Do not under rate yourself. Practice positive self talks. Kindly avoid bad habits like lying, self conceit etc… always believe in you and try to do the best in the given situation.

Create positive thinking

Of course positive thinking is good facility to build and develop self confidence. Look at whom you work with, play with an associate. Do they creating positive mental attitude in you? Association with negative people drags you down and exhausts your confidence. Please try to avoid them.

Feel good and maintain good mood

When you need a quick boost to your self confidence find three things that make you feel good. These could be memories of good time, a piece of music, a holyday souvenir, or a person’s face. Use photos if it helps. Practice thinking about them and bringing them into mind. Because of the way emotions attach themselves to memories, you will quickly train yourself to feel good when you want – a great help in developing self confidence that lasts. Your state of mind is determined by your moods. In a happy mood you are positive and enjoy the moment. Negative moods lead to misguided decisions, unhappiness and low self confidence.

Keep in circulation

Bad times do happen - mistakes, failures, firings, you name it. The most common and likely reaction is to withdraw. Never do that, you have to be in the situation and coolly take it. The sooner you re involve yourself, the sooner you will get back on track.

Learn to involve

Attend personality development classes. Anything that stimulates your brain is good for you. Associate in a seminar, discussion, and meeting and contribute to that by speaking confidently. Put across your views. Others will start listening to you and will begin to appreciate your views. This will stimulate confidence in you.

Listen to feedbacks

Healthy criticism should be welcomed. Good points must be incorporated for improvement. Take feedback on your performance. A trusted friend, colleague, even a professional can be useful for this. Do not take it from just any one. Getting feedback has strings attached to it. It should be come from someone who is caring, supportive and non judgmental. Feedbacks are useful because you can’t see all aspects of a situation. For instance if the situation is work related, feedback from someone who knows about your industry is ideal. It should from someone you can address your fears and concerns, but not a person who passes them on to others and submit sensitive information about you.

Neglect undue criticism

Do not allow undue comments and criticism. People have a tendency to re emphasize another person’s ignorance and failure. Do not allow this and self criticizing is the worst enemy.

Take care of yourself

Eat right. Get enough sleep. Exercise play and laugh. Tap into your spirituality. Get balance with your family. Most women work for grueling hours. They have to mend the home as well. A working woman puts 47% more effort than a man in the similar situation. Women traditionally spend more time taking care of others, everything from kitchen duty to the kid’s petting, health and care. Woman should find time for them also. It is very important to self appreciate and self confidence.

Take citation for your achievements

Learn to put yourself on the back. Always take pride in to your success. Post bravo news in your workspace and at home. Keep a file of notes of great and kind remarks that others have said about you and your work. Be prepared to review it at time when nothing is working to your favor. This is the time to regroup, visualize the success elements of the past and determine if they can bring forward again.

Target higher

Always be ambitious. Set a goal and target in your life. Look forward to achieve then identify role models, personally and professionally. Read about them and recollect their success. Develop plan to succeed your ambition.
