18 Volt Battery Revival
We bought a sack of power tools one year at Home Depot. There was a drill. Circular saw. Jig saw. Flashlight. Right angle drill.
It was a fun deal. I think it was our first major 18volt tools purchase. I have three batteries, so that must have been part of the promotion.
But, currently (no pun intended) I'm trying to revive them, as they had ceased to charge.
Oxidation is one of the problems. Some video schooled me on brain memory. Apparently, if you are using 18 volt batteries, you must drain them down to nothing, or your battery gets 'lazy' and will not allow charging over some level.
So, I took a blunt scissors and scrubbed and scraped on the three contacts on the batteries. They had some foreign material on them. Then, I put them on the charger. One by one. As I took one off the charger, I put the other battery onto the charger.
I put a piece of tape around my angle drill and had the power switch pressed to 'on'... So, when I took the battery off the charger, it would run the drill until it was dead.
I cannot tell you that a miracle happened and now my battery runs for 3 days. Nope. Out of three batteries, I got two of them to improve
