Introduction

If you wish to do something big in your life, you cannot do it alone. You need someone to have your back for the support. They could be your friends, families, colleagues, or anyone else. But if you have a good mentor that can guide you to achieve your dreams, it becomes easier than ever.

Life is full of struggles. And one cannot overcome them until he/she has strong support and guidance.

A good mentor will not only support you in your dreams but also come forward and try to contribute to it as much as possible. He/she provides you guidance on the specific things you want to achieve in your life. However, mentors can also be of various kinds.

Yes, and in this article, I’m going to discuss just that. Each mentor plays a key role in your life. So, you should have all kinds of mentors in your life for a progressive and revolutionary change.

Here are four types of mentor you need in your life:

1. Competence Mentor

The competence mentor is an expert in his/her field that can guide you through your goals with their existing knowledge.

They help you to become the person you want to be and thrive in your area of industry. Based on your skills, they fine-tune your brain and give you ample support over a period.

Whenever you want to start a venture or need support to move forward to your goal, you should turn to a competence mentor.

Competence Mentor

They are usually the people who have gone through the same road as you and can suggest a possible solution.

Most mentors in the world fall under this category. You need a mentor who has the required expertise or wisdom in your field of work.

If you’re into digital marketing, make sure to check whether he/she has a recognized name in the field. A competent mentor will help you achieve your short or long-term professional goal.

2. High Character Mentor

While a competence mentor will prepare you to become professionally successful, a high character mentor focuses more on your character.

They identify your strengths and weaknesses and plan out a way with you to move ahead accordingly.

A high character mentor will always work on your inner character rather than focusing on the outer skills. They understand that being able to maintain good character and intention is as important as becoming successful.

These types of mentors shouldn’t always be a person. It can be anything, such as books, e-books, courses, seminars, and podcasts. Anything that consistently inspires you to “Be You” while moving forward can become your high character mentor.

3. Care Mentor

That goes without saying that we also talk about being healthy and happy when we talk about being successful.

One cannot imagine a successful life without being healthy. Mentors who provide you with emotional support or care for you rather than anything else come into this category.

As much as they care about your professional growth, they’re also worried about your wellbeing.

These are the people who can understand your feelings without you uttering a word.

Care Mentor

From your teacher, close friend, colleague, to your cousin's brother or sister, they can be anyone.

Having a caring mentor in your life is as important as all other mentors.

In this highly competitive world, you need a mentor who can care for your health, beyond your success. It may not be easy to find such mentors, but it will be worth your time and effort when you do.

4. Consistent Mentor

Now, who is a consistent mentor? Well, a consistent mentor is a person who stays with you until the very end, from your struggling days to becoming successful.

These are the people who have seen your transformation from the most miserable to your life's best days.

They play an important role in reminding you how far you’ve traveled in life. Usually, a consistent mentor is your old friend or colleague, but it can be anyone you’re in touch for many years or decades.

It’s best not to let them know that they’re your consistent mentor. Just remind yourself that in your mind.

Wrap Up

As a normal human being, we may require a little push to be the best version of ourselves. Mentors are those people or things that give us that "push" to overcome all the obstacles in our lives and become what we wish to be.

Every mentor who teaches, guides, or supports his/her mentee makes the world a better place.
