Some air lines have their own training programs and selected candidates are required to undergo the prescribed training.However, a diploma in tourism and travel may be treated as a preferred qualification by some select airlines. Any girl with a fair complexion, 5'2" taller with a proportionate body weight, is considered suitable for the job if she is both physically and mentally fit. Most of the airlines would look for the leadership traits, team spirit and ability to adept to any adverse situation since such traits are the demand of the job. Swimming is considered a preferred specialization for the recruitment of cabin crew of an airlines.
Responsibilities of the air hostess involve greeting passengers with smile while boarding the flight, demonstrating emergency devices, serving the passengers with meals and drinks and attending special needs of sick, handicap, old age passengers and children. Since passengers are drawn from various class,category and regions, air hostess's tasks involve knowledge of additional languages other than Hindi. Normally graduates are preferred for this profession but minimum qualification is either metric or plus two depending upon the airlines' requirements.Since air hostess's job is not a 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM job, unmarried girls are recruited for the job.
