Finding Affordable Auto Insurance In California

Updated on September 9, 2010

Be Brepared: Auto Insurance

Which California Insurance Company is Best?

Its hard to say which California Insurance company would be the best, and perhaps the best answer to that question is: Every situation is unique, every circumstance can influence your insurance premium and therefore sometimes an insurance company can be the right choice, and sometimes other insurance companies seem to be the better choice. Just be sure that you trust who you're talking to and make sure that the rates you are quoted are competitive with other companies.

Deciding which auto insurance company is best for you is a decision that we've all had to face at some time or another. I have been with three different insurance companies in California and have had mixed experiences with each insurer. Sometimes I've noticed that your insurance premiums can change without notice and for any reason. Furthermore, when your premium does go up, consider asking your auto insurance company for the reasoning behind it. They will either have a reason for the increase or they will just make some excuse.

My Grandma Was With An Insurance Co For 15 Years and Her Rates Increased

Recently, my grandma was telling me that she had been with this auto insurance company for 15 years and was recently notified that her insurance premium would be going up quite a bit. The insurance company had no reason to explain to her but it seemed unfair so we decided to get some quotes from other insurers. The fact that her rates were going up made no sense due to the fact that.

  • She has had a clean driving record for 10 Years
  • No Accidents in the last 12 years
  • No Speeding tickets or citations for the last 10 years
  • She did not get a new car (in fact she has been driving the same car for over 8 years)

When your record is this clean, it shows that you are a safe driver and safe driving should be rewarded. Its interesting that they decided to increase her insurance rates, but thats why its important to get quotes from other companies as well. In the end, she ended up getting a much more competitive quote from a smaller insurance company. Which is why its important to shop around for quotes and then bargain with them and go with the lowest bidder. I believe that its possible to negotiate insurance rates, especially if the insurance company suspects that they may lose you as a customer.

Overall, Shop around and find out which insurance company will treat you right.
