Google Webmaster Tool and its Importance in SEO

Google Webmasters Tool is a free website tool provided by Google and is mainly used for checking the overall health condition of the website in order to have a better search engine visibility. Google webmaster tool is free to use and anyone having a Google account can create an account with Google Webmaster tool, using the same login credentials. Google Webmaster tool has become an integral part of any SEO campaign and majority of the SEO guys rely upon this amazing online marketing tool to analyse the overall performance of a website in a better way.

There are 2 major steps involving the efficient use of Google Webmaster tool and the first one is the verification of your website with this tool. This process includes uploading a blank HTML file provide by the tool on to your website and verifying it with the option provided in the Webmaster Tool. By verifying your website, you are informing Google that you are the sole owner of the website and you have the right to make necessary changes on the website.

The next step is to submit a XML sitemap or RSS feed to the Webmaster tool which helps the tool to index your webpages easily and provide necessary details regarding your website. Once both the steps are completed you will start getting vital traffic and health stats of your website which will help you to get a deep insight about your search engine optimization activities. You can check the stats and rectify any of the errors that are reported in the Google Webmaster tool report.

Some of the major stats that is shown by Google Webmaster tool include crawl errors, Sitelink details, URL Parameters, Malware information, search queries, links to your site, internal links, HTML improvements, author stats, instant previews, site performance etc. All these vital data are important ingredients that influence the success of your SEO campaign. The stats such as search queries and links to your sites shows how well your SEO activities are going on and it also shows the average ranking for the search queries in Google.

Submitting and verifying your website also helps you to rank much better and faster in Google search engine as Google provides more priority to sites that are verified using its Webmaster tool. Yahoo and Bing also have their own webmaster tools which are almost similar to Google’s and you can also submit and verify your site with them.

A lot of websites which are not verified with Google webmaster tool, faces many crawling, indexing and ranking issues with Google and since Google is the major search engine giant, it is always recommended to strictly submit your sites to Google Webmaster tool.

Whether your website is new or old, if you are serious about optimizing it and getting relevant organic traffic to your website, then you should never forget to get it submitted and verified with Google Webmaster tool. It really helps you to know where your website is heading towards in terms of search engine visibility and helps you to identify and possible errors that might prevent your website from performing well in the search engine ranking results.
