Google Adsense Contextual Advertising (Ads) Alternatives

Updated on February 3, 2011

Google adsense Alternatives

When you talk about making money online, Google has dominated the entire web space through their adwords and adsense program. One of the most popular methods is running texts, images or both on your websites and is known as contextual advertising and "inline ads".

If you are one of the publishers who would like to join Google Adsense, you need to register and wait for your approval, Google might decline your application but still you can resubmit at a later stage, after being approved you can decide to run either texts or images on your websites

Before you start you need a website to have all these ads displayed, what you need to have a website running includes, having developed articles, register a domain and buy a webhosting space for your website to run.

But when you are just getting started you may not have the money to do all this that’s why you should consider setting up a blog from blogger which is free by Google. With blog you can displays all contextual ads by these companies. The other way to go about it is to set up an account with hubpages, which have good traffic compared to setting a blog and it is absolutely free. With hubpages relevant Google adsense will be displayed on your articles and will enjoy the good traffic it already commands. But you will have to split your earning with hubs, whereby you will earn 60% Google Adsense earning, 40% will go to hubpages.

Below are other alternative to Google Adsense

Relevant ads and ad units are linked to keywords on your web page. Kontera accepts only English written contents with more than 50 words a page, one cal also run text, image, billboard, and video ads. It has not gained popularity compared to Google adsense

With good content website, will sell you simple text ads that will appear on your site. The beauty with is that you decide any ads to be displayed on your site, unlike Google Adsense where they display relevant ads, with you not being able to decide whether you want them or not. They give the publisher 50% sales price of each link they serve on your websites

With adbrite a publisher has got the greater benefit because he has a variety of ad formats to choose from. They include text ads, inline ads, and banners. You are the one to approve if you are satisfied with any of the above modes. Adbrite pays their publishers monthly with a minimum payment of $100. The other advantages of Adbrite is that you can run other contextual ads along with theirs.

As a new publisher you are likely not to use as they targets publisher with strong traffic monthly. So this will not be good news when you are just getting started, you will need to build your traffic base before applying for

Chitika .com

Is one of the strongest ad network with over billions pages impression per month, they are not contextual and this gives you benefit to run them with Google adsense on the same page. Chitika has got over twenty four different ad sizes to choose from, and this gives you the flexibility to choose which ad size you want. The beauty with is that they pay through PayPal once your account is $10.00 and for those that do not have PayPal services; you will be paid by cheques when you reached a minimum of $50

Yahoo Publisher Network

Yahoo contextual ads is similar to that of Google Adsense, with the ability to choose your own colors, format and sizes, Yahoo also has different payment methods namely, PayPal with minimum payment of $50, and check with minimum payment of $100

Very Nice Hub. I myself have tried five adsense alternatives (have compiled a Hub about them) and I have found infolinks to be a well paying affiliate program.

Actually Kontera has inline ads, and can use with Adsense. It's not really an alternative, more like a complement.
