Grant Cardone's List Of Dumb Things People Say

Updated on August 5, 2014

The Dumbest Things People Say - The Cardone Zone

You are what you eat!

Many leaders and coaches will tell you that you are made up of the people you surround yourself with. While this may be true, it is also important to consider that you spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with yourself. What's going on in that head of yours? People have all these little sayings and colloquialisms. Many designed to make you feel a certain way. These sayings may seem innocent, but are they in fact dangerous to your well being? Could they actually be holding you back? What if the very words you think and say have an immediate and dramatic impact on your success in life, your financial freedom and ability to achieve your goals and dreams?

From the Holy Bible to James Allen to Napoleon Hill, we all know that "as a man thinketh" and thoughts are things" yet how often do you catch your self thinking and then saying something that limits your potential?

Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or you think you can't you're absolutely right."

So what are you thinking? What are you telling yourself? More importantly, what are the people around you thinking and saying?

In a recent episode of the Cardoen Zone, Grant Cardone lists off 21 dumb things people say that can have a direct and immediate impact on your attitude as well as cause confusion in your life, make you lazy, apathetic, irresponsible, and keep you way below what you are truly capable of achieving, creating and accomplishing.

Let's take a look at that list right now... how many are you saying?

Your reflection

Hey, who hasn't said some of these? Admittedly, I have. What's the good news here? Awareness is the first step to competency and repair. Can't fix something until you know it's broken. Now you know.

Some of these statement are so normal and everyday we don't even know and may even defend their use. Doesn't change the fact that they're still dangerous and will infect and limit your availability to fully spread your wings. Imagine the torture of a bird blinded. Now that you are aware, you can fix, repair, rehab, and restart.

Look, parents also told us that good things come to those who wait and yet Bill Gates sold Windows to IBM before it was even written.

Comfortable? If Samuel Adams decided to just be comfortable, we may never have had these United States.

Money may not make you happy, but how good would you feel if you knew you've donated over 25 BILLION dollars like Warren Buffet.

If it was just about the journey and not the destination, Rosa Parks may have gone back to the bus content with her journey of oppression.

Mozart composed over 600 works of music in the 35 years he was on this planet. What do you mean you don't have time?

Living the dream? Elvis Presley lived the dream. Miles Davis lived the dream. Babe Ruth lived the dream. Are you really living yours?

You'll do what exactly when you get to it? I'm glad Thomas Edison didn't feel that way about the light bulb.

That's impossible? Fortunately the Wright Brothers didn't listen to that nonsense.

Time heals. My guess here and I may be wrong, bur Nelson Mandella and the Dali Lama may have a different perspective on healing.

We can't do that. Someone told Henry Ford that about the assembly line..

It takes money to make money? Michael Dell started his business in his garage with no money. So did Steve Jobs. So... no it doesn't take money to make money, it take's courage.

Thank God it's Friday. Why? You think Earnest Hemingway worked on weekends?

Can't wait for the weekend? Working for the weekend was only good for Loverboy.

I hate Mondays. Imagine diVincci standing at the watercooler outside the Sistine Chapel and dropping that nugget.

I'm only human. How different would the world be if Jesus Christ accepted that idea?

I'll be happy when... what's wrong with now?

I'm too old (young) Alexander The Great ruled the known world at 32 and on October 12th 1932, Yuichiro Miura reached the summit of Mt Everest at the age of 80.

It is what it is. Um... no it's not. Said Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa

That's not my job? Imagine if that was Ghandi's attitude?

I'm a lover not a fighter. Michael Jackson said that to Paul McCartney and look how things turned out for him!

I am trying. Yoda said it best. "Do or do not. There is no try."

Awareness and Action

Now you know and GI Joe was 100% correct when he said knowing is half the battle. For you and I though we need to not only catch ourselves, but we need to replace.

Grant advises to be aware of tose who are committed to these ideals as they are dangerous. Dangerous to you, your freedom and society as a whole because they can infect and limit those around them.

When you catch yourself and recognize that you're operating with a some dumb, outdated idea Grant says to do the following:

  1. Write it down.
  2. Label it as dumb.
  3. Replace with a new idea.

We will become even more successful when we shift out thinking out of these limiting beliefs.
