If you're searching through a business directory because you're looking for services like finding a new family doctor, or you need to find a qualified mechanic to work on your car, you'll need to be looking for business directory listings that are as detailed as possible.

The listing should include the full name of the company, the phone number(s) where customer service representatives can be reached, and the business' full address.

You should also be looking for a summary in the business directory of the businesses services that the company offers, and in some cases, you'll also be able to find some customer reviews that will let you know about the customer service and expertise of the business employees.

Be sure to read more than one customer review if you can, so that you can get a well-rounded opinion of the business before your visit, especially if you are going to receive a major service.

Some business directory listings also have a rating system that you should definitely pay attention to. This is usually a 'star' system, and the more stars a business receives, the more qualified it usually is to provide you with the services that you need.

This system is especially helpful if you're looking for a new beauty salon or spa, and the listing should also detail the services that these businesses offer, so that you'll know if there is a trained professional there that can take care of your beauty needs. You can also search business directory listings with the 'star' rating if you're looking for the best restaurants in your city.

Referring to the directory will help you to find a great place to eat if you're planning a special occasion or are having friends and family come into town.

The Incredible SuperPages

The Superpages site is one of the most popular online business directories.

One visit will show you why!

The site has a little bit of everything. Studies show that conducting local searches is gaining popularity, as more and more consumers tack on their geographic location to their search engine terms.

Additionally, the vast majority of online shoppers check out online video and web reviews before making a purchase. At this directory site, you'll find all this and more.

Get Exposure For Your Business On SuperPages

There are many ways for large, small and local business owners to gain exposure at, as you can gain information on local advertising opportunities. To get started, there are free listing opportunities.

You will just include your business location, hours and contact info, as well as write a brief description of your products and services, selecting appropriate business categories to aid in your search.

You may want to add special enhancements to help your listing stand out from the crowd. Color, italics, bold text, custom fonts, an icon or logo image, larger font size, highlighting or an extra line of text may all boost your site's exposure.

Super Pages Also Offers Pay Per Click

There are also pay-per-click opportunities that allow you to create your own ad, which will allow customers to click to your site. You'll make your ad targeted to a specific geographic location to get the highest quality traffic. Next, you'll include a headline, a description and a URL.

You can place your local service into numerous categories to maximize your search results.

You will then pay Superpages (usually a few cents) only when someone clicks on your ad and visits your site.

The advantage of pay-per-click is prominent positioning on numerous pages that can catch the viewers' eye while browsing normal text listings.

Super Pages Is A Great Tool For Business And Consumers

This handy site is not just an advertising tool, though. It's also extremely useful for consumers. College students, for example, will find the site very helpful when navigating around a new town.

You can look up businesses based on their proximity to your school. When you first move, you'll want to find the nearest pizza places, churches, bookstores, coffee houses, movie theaters, self-service laundry facilities, banks, grocery stores and shopping centers.

If family or friends are coming to town, then you may want to look up hotels or restaurants. Over the years, you may want to move off-campus, so the apartment search will come in especially handy.

      Hi CarNoobz

Yes unfortunately many businesses know to list their sites into the directories but once that is done they seem to neglect the listing by not updating it with relevant information.

Imagine how much more pleasant your experince would have been with that restaurant if all the details were up to date, now sadly it has left a bad taste in your mouth.

By the way have a great Valentines day and I hope the food was worth the effort.

You know, this is a constant source of frustration for me. For instance, last week I wanted to make reservations at a nice restaurant in Honolulu for Valentine's Day. So I just googled the name of the restaurant I wanted, and several sites came up that mentioned the place...but none of them were the "official" website for this restaurant with the current contact info. All of them had the old phone number -- which was disconnected -- so I ended up making reservations somewhere else.

Now I know...I should use an app so that it will give me info straight from the business itself. Thanks =)
