Leadership Activities
The top two leadership activities that I feel are most important in obtaining the maximum performance from my team are; commitment to a specific direction and a leader setting a good personal example.
I firmly believe that leading by example is the number one requirement from a leader.
Furthermore, from my own personal experience I have witnessed many managers who gave their teams no set direction and the outcomes were a total disaster. As the article states “Professionals have an innate need to be involved and included. Gaining commitment from employees increases the odds that they will work harder and more creatively to move a firm, practice, or project in the desired direction.” (L.AThompson, 2009)
As a leader, you set the pace. Your team will be following the example that you set. As the article states “Leaders must embody the firm’s stated values and goals. Gaining commitment requires that leaders display personal integrity, support their professionals, and take responsibility for their own actions—including mistakes.” (L.AThompson, 2009)
In conclusion, the top two leadership activities that I believe are the most important in obtaining maximum performance from my team are; commitment to a specific direction and the leader setting a good personal example.
