Motivation: How does it affect you?

Updated on January 30, 2012

What is Motivation?

Motivation, a way to uplift the spirit in new directions, to new opportunities and creations. Every one of us deserves the feelings that motivation gives us at our failing moments, the seconds in which we think all else will crumble, the factors of motivation will reside within you. It is funny to see that when one begins to see success, or flourishes in a branch of creativity, the human race acts as if it should be theirs, that human greed resurfaces for another strike on the emotions.

It is in this moment that you must ask yourself, "Do I Falter and allow myself to exchange words back in misdirected absurdities and null comments, or should I smile and wish them a thanks and a good day...?". As we push on through our lives, from our days in school to the workplace, some days come as sunshine, and others as the worst event to happen on your life, and we are often forced to adapt to change. Motivation is a key factor in the realities of life, as one needs this to push past brazen attempts to usurp your good hearted intentions for letdowns.

What is Motivation good for?

You might be in a bad position in your life, and there seems to be no other way put of your predicament, but i promise that within yourself rests the motivation to push on. This can be simply waking up in the morning, or it could be to finish out your work day with a smile, everything in between from minute to minute attributed to the factors of positive motivations. If your an athlete, then motivation coincides with that next win, or if there is no win, the motivation to accept a loss and understand that there is always tomorrow.

Believe it or not, your mind accepts and rejects motivation on a daily basis, from what a family member or significant other has said to you in a positive or negative way, to how a friend mentally or physically acts in a situation that you are a part of. If your friend begins a project that has potential to be successful, are you motivated to follow through with him/her to seek out the potential future possibilities? Or does your motivation lie elsewhere, maybe in completing your school work or going midnight bowling? Whether or not one knows it, motivation plays a major factor in everything that we act and react, both verbally and physically.

How can an individual use Motivation to their advantage?

Want to find ways to enhance your performance in the workplace, a creative pursuit, on the field, or anywhere and anything else that calls for a motivation manifestation. If your work requires you to sit behind a desk, doing office work on a day in, day out basis, then consider having your horoscope or inspirational quotes delivered to your email. This will help boost your spirits if your sitting with Writer's block, or the boss is giving you a hard time, thus boosting your spirits and allowing you to continue the day with a hard to remove smile on your face. Remember that a little philosopher's Jargon is better than none, only because your mind needs stimulation, so let's give it a positive outline.

Let's say now that you are currently functioning within a sport of some sort, whether it be football, baseball, soccer, hockey, or any physically demanding sport for that matter. Now by halftime, you are completely exhausted, and your mind just wants to relax, but your body is still pumping much needed adrenaline. The term mind over matter works well within this selection, and also forms a type of inner motivation to succeed, knowing your hard work will pay off in dividends of determination. An individual needs to eat just as an athlete needs to perform, so why be average when your feeding cravings for success can take you much further.

Motivation is for Everyone, Not just the Few

Therefore, Motivation is an emotional trigger that can be put on you both physically and mentally, from you can do it, to the heavy set workout mentality. When everything else fades, motivation will be what picks your head off the pillow, carries your morning reality to the coffeepot, and allows you to perform your day to the potential you wish it to be. What does motivation mean to you, and how do you wish it to work for you throughout the rest of your days? Do you want motivation to work for or against you? I think the answer is quite simple, be motivated and don't let anyone tell you you can't, because impossible simply means "I'm possible".
