The Rise Of Nigerian Women: Profiling Ifeoma Onwugbufor

Over the years, women have contributed immensely in human and state development. Greats like Margaret Thatcher, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey et cetera have all left blazing trails for many onlookers. In the same vein, many others have followed and are still following that trend.

Ifeoma Onwugbufor is a leading star, a beautiful and gorgeous damsel. Yeah
she’s pretty. Ife is an outstanding Poetess, writer, lecturer, public speaker, tutor and a most brilliant woman with impressive track-record. She is one woman who fearlessly and selflessly advocates for a better society [for all].

This woman of extraordinary intellect, gusto and zeal is a heap of erudition. Her role as an ICT consultant is the basis for a success story now being retold. A technical communicator per excellence who through the ages have used her great skills to impact on the lives of many people across the globe. As an entrepreneurial gesture, she is working round the clock to provide youths the advantage of ICT training skills.

Ifeoma hails from Anambra, Nigeria and currently is a Lecturer in one of the Nigerian universities.

Here is an interesting except from one of her poems.

"Papa told the tale of midday raid with anguish
And his red eyes lighted in the darkness;
His face dropped in grief.
The women sat hand-under-jaw and gazed blankly at the Mpànākā
That threw hope at us as it sat defiantly in centre of the threshold.
Papa ended asking, 'Are we fighting this Fight with the Ófõ, the staff of uprightness?'

We watched the question spiral above the lanky palm tree
In the middle of the threshold.
We looked on as though waiting for an answer thereof
"

('Tepid Trepidation' from THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN - a collection of poems about the Nigerian-Biafran war 1966-1970) ~ Ife Onwugbufor

Ifeoma seeks to improve the youths in two major avenues – ICT professional skills mentorship and Publishing. She had a brief stint with the Ho Polytechnic, Ghana where she mentored many youths both in the post-primary and tertiary institutions towards the knowledge and acquisition of Information and Communication Technology under the project referred to as "The Vocational Professional Skills in ICT".

The teachers in these schools were not left out in the program.

In Nigeria, National Youth Service Corps members have also been mentored on the need for ICT professional knowledge and mentorship. Using Corona Publishers, Ife hopes to publish and sell young and upcoming writers who desire to venture into literary writings.

By this program, Ife seeks to reach the youths who are encouraged to embrace the knowledge of ICT to militate against the global financial, health, security and psychological challenges, improve on their personal and national economic benefits and also; acquire substitute skills that elevate their family economic standards individually and the world in general. She targets to mentor an average of 100 youths in acquiring ICT professional skills yearly.

Ifeoma hails from Anambra, Nigeria and currently is a Lecturer in one of the Nigerian universities.

No one can deny the role women are playing as they march ahead in the struggle for survival. These women, outstanding in this cause, are the pacesetters. Posterity will count them worthy as those who helped shape it for the better. After all is said and done, it is right for us all to dream dreams given that the cause is pro bono.

So, on the pedestal of coarse droplets, let's join hands together and gather this momentum like a rampant tsunami and force the much needed change in our society. Let us take advantage of this entrepreneurial opportunity for our own good.

Our people say: "E mee ngwa ngwa, emeghara ọdachi.
When you are fast, you are more likely to avoid problem.
A stitch in time saves nine".
