What's Your Strategy?

Updated on December 16, 2013

When We Plan

Proverbs 16:9 NAS

The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.

Today, I would like to talk with you about Your Strategy. How it will affect the outcome of Re-Inventing yourself. Many of us learnt survival not, strategy.

My parents plan was to get us through school so that we could get a job, move out of the house, and be on our own! They had a plan!

Strategy Example

As I wrap this segment up , this is what a strategy look like:

Example of a Strategy

Strategizing for Personal Success:

Mission: Physical Health is Important for Long Life.

Vision: By the time I retire in 7 years, I want to have lost 50 pounds and to have lowered

my cholesterol count to an acceptable level.

Goal: To lose 7 pounds each year.

Objectives: In pursuit of my goal this year, I will go to the gym the minimum of 3 times and consult with a fitness trainer and nutritionalist.

What Does Strategizing Entail?

It is a process:

  • Crafting, or creating strategy
  • Adopting, or implementing strategy
  • Adjusting, or modifying strategy

What is Strategy?

DAY 6 -- 30 DAYS TO RE-INVENTING YOURSELF -- WHAT IS STRATEGY (EXCERPT)

Like their parents before them, we were talked at, not to. We did not understand the importance of a plan, vision, or a dream. We entered into life and made choices that we had not understanding of what their future ramifications would be on our lives. We married people we should not have, we entered jobs that we hated, stayed in some relationships way too long!

Some of us realized the errors of our ways long down the road and now are faced with the thought “It’s been too long,” “I’m too old to change,” and “What does it matter now?” Whatever the age, or how long it’s been God is the God of second chances!

What is Strategy?

Strategy is the approach you take to accomplish an aim. It is a series of actions and decisions designed to achieve a particular objective, expectation or goal.

Strategy forces us to think critically. It requires that we stop, look, and listen. It requires asking and responding to questions.

Equipping yourself may mean different things depending on what you are trying to achieve. It may mean reading more books about your chosen field, doing a Masters, going for more networking events, expanding your contacts, attending seminars, training courses and conferences, the list is endless. You must determine what works well for you and your chosen field of endeavor.

Choosing a mentor is essential to your strategy , plan, and the reaching of your goal. A mentor is someone who has already done what you are trying to do and is able to teach, guide, and encourage you to reaching your goal or vision.

My grandson Kaeden was over the other day and we were trying to keep him out of something. I remembered his mother saying that he is so FOCUSED! That stuck with me. We can be so easily distracted, discouraged, and moved. If you let nothing and no one distract you from what you have set out to do, you will have achieved even more than you had imagined.

As a side bar, do not allow your emotions to RULE you. Emotions will make you fickle and undependable! The scripture says that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways!

It's Personal

I used the above example because I included in my Plan a goal of losing weight. Just on yesterday I was sharing with a coworker what my plan was. She said “oh, you don’t have to, it’s alright!” My answer was that “I can’t fit into my clothes!” I had to stay focused and not be persuaded by another’s opinion. I know how I feel and understand what’s best for me!

Yesterday, I went back to my SparkPeople, account. I weighed and measured myself and recorded my numbers. This is necessary because numbers don’t lie. This will give an accurate gauge and account as to whether I meant what I said or see if my subconscious self is sending contradictory messages that will sabotage my success!

Let’s Pray:

Dear Father, Man plans but it is you who give direction. I am setting my plan, goals, and strategy before you and am awaiting your divine direction. I need you today like I’ve never needed you before. My circumstances are reminders that I need to align myself with you spiritually so that I might have good success and glorify you in the earth. In Jesus’ name. Amen
