    Don't you think employers check both the month and the year in your Cv's employment history?

    In your Cv' make-up for "lost time" you suggest that instead of specifying the month and the year people who have long gaps of unemployment should try just the years of umployment, but I am afraid that is a too easy trick for seasoned employers...btw. I found really humouros how you described the gaps (travel to europe) and how you "translated" them! Good hub, but I would like to figur out something really smart fot those delicate situations, which I haven't been capable of so far...

    As an employer I can say yes. When we verify employment we will ask the person what were your employment dates, start dates etc. I've never been told just a year and of course just a month. Of course if someone just says the year and its within the past few years I am going to ask for the month.

    The main reason employers want to know the month is that it can be a huge difference in time. If someone started a job in 2009 and left in 2010 that can look as if it was at least a year or close to two years. But if its November 2009 to January 2010 you'll realize that the applicant didn't make it out of the probation period.
