My Hobby Turned into a Business

Royal Flamingo???

Well, to make a long story short, my wife and I treat each other like royalty.  She thinks I'm her Prince and everyone knows she's an Empress.

Our lawn is filled with those cheap, tacky, pink flamingos, so the name just kinda evolved from that.

My photography hobby turned into a business when we discovered that people were actually willing to pay for my work. My wife, "Bob" does greeting cards so we got a booth at a local store and began selling our work.  Eventually, we incorporated the business and used the name we had previously given our studio. Voila!  Royal Flamingo Works, LLC.

So now, we can enjoy all the benefits of owning our own business!

RFWLLC introduces "Etier Photography"

Etier Photography

Before RFWLLC, there was just "Etier Photography" and now, it's a subsidiary.  I read on one of those websites filled with suggestions about how to promote your business that a video clip is great. So, here are two slideshows I made for that very purpose!

The first is an introductory piece and begins with my "Artist's Statement".

The second, is a sampling of my work. So be forewarned, all my images are COPYRIGHTED.

Thank you so much for visiting my hub! I had to pop over and take a gander at your hubs and I am so going to come back and read later! I 'fool around' with my camera but you definitely have a marvelous talent and I can't wait to read and look at everything! Thanks again for tagging me. We tend to all be so busy that we sometimes miss great people right under our noses!

FCE - You see things very well. I particularly enjoyed the photo of the split wooden fence in autumn in your demo series. Very nice.

It's funny how we all misconstrue talent for hobbies. I'm happy that you fond your talent and wish you all success in your business. By the way I'm waiting for your book of words and photos. Have a nice day

Superb configuration, use of thirds and so much more. There are photographers and then there are masters of their art. You my friend are truly the latter. Your business is your hobby/your hobby is your business...I believe they call this bliss.

Very happy for you. Hope you continue to write as I would miss your wisdom dear.

Wow - you've just gained another fan! Seeing the world through someone else's eyes is as exciting as reading their words in a book (and we already know one photo is worth about 3 books ;-) Your work is subtle, soft-spoken and has such impact! I do like the YouTube idea - it may cut down on theft while still allowing a decent portfolio to be shown. I'll be back to enjoy these images again. Thank you!

Wonderful still black and white shots. Something about that medium that catches the eye. As for Flamingos, there is a suburb in my town where people put them out on their lawns all summer long, we call it Flamingoville. Nice work, appreciate your sharing your work.

Sounds like a dream come true! Where's the photos of the Pink Flamingos? I think they are cool. There was an actual knock down drag out fight over those in one of our Austin yards, it was so funny!

Love the photos, I hope someday to turn mine into a business.

FCE - You are already a world-class photographer with the eye of an artist. I especially like the hummingbird in flight, the swan, the stacked colored pencils and the "marching" Elmer's glue bottles. Bravo!
