Why has the MS State Unemployment Tax more than doubled this week?
Our rate of tax went from 1.8% to 4.6%.
The most likely reason is because there are so many people drawing from the state pool of unemployment insurance funds that the MS pool is becoming dangerously depleted. When you add that to the fact that states revenue is dropping around the country, well, they're going to be looking for lots of ways to bring more money in.
