1) Regular meetings to encourage people to open up about the positve and the negative. (resolve negative issues)
2) Praise - if someone has done something well.
3) Constructive Criticism - if someone hasn't 'delivered' as expected.
4) Go on "Company Away Days" with staff. Nice 5 star hotel, the works... Staff go Free - Company foots the bill......
I think positive attitudes are contageous. You need to make sure you are not only presenting yourself as professional, but also friendly. Also if you are in a management position you need to make sure that you are lifting your employees up rather than always ragging on them about their failings. There is a time and place to present their faults to them, and you need to make sure you are doing it privately and constructively. Also I think there should be company parties. Company parties is a chance for people to get to know each other outside of the office. My mom's office always brings everyone out to eat on a person's birthday. Everyone has to pay for themselves, but still it's a chance for people to get to know each other outside of work!
