Are American businesses ready to implement motivation techniques described in D. Pink's book Drive?
For those of you who have read Daniel H. Pink's book "Drive - The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us," What do you believe would be the greatest obstacle for using such motivation techniques in American businesses?
I just finished reading that book myself! My bosses are very enthusiastic about the ideas, but I'm having some trouble with implementation. One critical factor discussed in the book is "Autonomy" which is great and I'm completely in favor. However, when you are part of a team that is relying on you for real-time answers and collaboration to get their work done, it makes the implementation trickier. Also, my employer is not quite ready to provide 20% or even 10% time for the "Purpose" component. I just posted a question for specific examples in motivating teams. Do you have any suggestions?
