Can I teach myself how to be a good copywriter or should I take a seminar?

I'm trying to increase my portfolio by adding new skills to my resume. Can I teach myself or should I spend some dough and learn from the pros?

You can teach yourself by reading good books and learning from people who do it really well.

People who know what they are talking about:
    Clayton Makepeace
    Bob Bly
    Drayton Bird
    John Carlton
Gary Bencivenga (retired, was the best)

    Books:
Books by Drayton Bird & Bob Bly

    Blogs/websites:
    draytonbird.net
    copyblogger.com
    ryanhealy.com
    awaionline.com/copywriting

    Hope this helps.

You can do both so that you can see a fast progress. By attending seminars, you can get fresh and new information and direct tips from experts in  a particular field. Aside from that, you can meet new acquaintances that can help you out broaden your knowledge about writing.
