Definitely working smarter. Working hard may or may not yield results if the bosses have no understanding of how much effort went into the task, or if enough publicity is not done. Working smart involves avoiding tremendous stress in the work while getting the necessary acknowledgement and appreciation for the task done. Isn't it what most of us desire?
Working harder means taking two days to dig a trench with just your muscles and a good shovel. Working smarter means arranging to borrow a backhoe for a few hours to dig your trench and then being free to do what you want for the next day and a half. :-)

I was always taught to work hard and it will pay off. I have found this to be true for the most part but have also found that working smarter also pays off. What do you think?
