How much do you think business is responsible for our obesity, stress, and planetary destruction?
It's just been revealed that the Sugar Industry paid Harvard scientists to lie about sugar causing obesity and heart disease. One of the bribed scientists went on to create the American food pyramid. Recently we have seen water and rivers destroyed by industries. The air is polluted by making cement. The fashion industry is the third highest creator of pollution. All this is driven by the need to make bigger and bigger profits. So who do you think is more responsible for obesity, stress, and planetary destruction? Business or the consumer?
I think both are responsible. If consumers stopped buying products from unethical companies, those companies would stop making them or go out of business.
Coincidentally, I just saw an interview with someone who manages a fund that does ethical investing. Ethical investment funds are skyrocketing. So people are taking steps in the right direction.
