What is Bzzagent?

BzzAgent is a Word-of-Mouth marketing company. Basically, companies such as Kraft, Microsoft and Philips pay BzzAgent to create a "BzzCampaign". Each BzzCampaign is designed to promote a specific product or service. BzzAgent and the client work together to create a BzzKit. Each BzzKit contains samples, freebies and/or exclusive coupons along with a BzzGuide. The BzzGuide tells BzzAgents (people like you and me) all about the products they are "Bzzing" about and give examples of how to Bzz.

Once the kits are created, BzzAgent sends out surveys to all the BzzAgents that fit the demographics the company wants to market to. Each BzzAgent who replies to the survey (which is usually only 10-15 questions) is put into a pool of applicants. BzzAgent then weeds out those who don't fit the demographics and starts inviting BzzAgents starting with the highest ranked. As a BzzAgent, you are ranked based on how active you are in each campaign. Don't worry if you're new to BzzAgent, you'll be a Sweet Bee in no time!

This BzzCampaign was totally unlike all the others in which I had participated. Instead of bzzing about a product or a service, we were simply asked to choose 1 of 6 charities to bzz about using Twitter and Facebook. The charity with the most amount of bzz received a donation of $5,000. I personally chose Unicef but the winning charity was actually Susan G Komen for the cure.

In just one week, 18,000 BzzAgents voted for their favorite causes via 13,000+ Facebook posts and 6,700+ tweets, creating nearly 3.5 million social impressions. And Susan G. Komen for the Cure® was the overwhelming choice by an almost 2 to 1 margin. How's that for increasing awareness?

For this campaign, I received 4 tubes of Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm and 4 tubes of Maybelline Lots of Lashes mascara. How cool is that?

I liked the mascara but wasn't a huge fan of the lip balms but my friends absolutely LOVED both products! That is what made this campaign really fun. I got to give my friends brand new beauty products and see their reactions. That is what makes BzzAgent fun - sharing cool new products with your friends and family.

For this campaign, I received 2 full size samples of Burt's Bees Natural Skin Solutions for Sensitive Skin. I received a facial cleanser and a moisturizer. I also received about 10 samples to hand out. This is another one of my favorite campaigns because it re-introduced me to a great product line. Before this, I had only tried Burt's Bees once and I wasn't very impressed with the product.

With this campaign, however, I was quite impressed. I also had a lot of fun handing out the free samples and seeing my friends try out the product. I love seeing their reactions - good OR bad.

My very FIRST BzzCampaign with an actual BzzKit was for 5 Gum. This campaign is one of my absolute favorites because it introduced me to my favorite chewing gum. If you've never tried 5 gum, you are seriously missing out. The "Rain" flavor is 5's version of Spearmint and it is GOOD. But that's not the best part - the best part is that it lasts soooooo long. This campaign will probably always be one of my favorites.

In one of my very first BzzKits, I received a Sonicare FlexCare - a $100+ electric toothbrush. This campaign was in 2007 and I am still using this toothbrush. This product is something I never would have tried without BzzAgent and I am so glad I got the opportunity to try it and Bzz about it to my friends and family.
