What More Can I Do?
Here I am, trying to write an entry after 15 years. It’s good that HubPages is still up and running well. Thank God for such blessings.
As I sit here, trying to browse the web for potential work to generate additional income, I try to answer that question: “What more can I do?” Indeed, what more can you do with the remaining time that you have after your full-time work?
Start a Business.
So what happened to me in those 15 years I haven’t checked in here? I’d say a lot. I’ve started a small preloved bag business. I collected a couple of bags before the pandemic and am trying to get them sold at various selling apps. I cleaned, washed them, and repaired any minor damages, and hopefully, with some marketing strategies, I will get to sell them locally.
Transfer to a New Job
I transferred jobs. I was a clinical instructor/professor, then an SEO writer in between, then a medical records reviewer, and now, a clinical administrative nurse (aka prior authorization/determination) nurse at a local company.
Being a single parent, of course, we need additional income. So, yes, a couple of months ago, I was faced with the question, What else can I do? I had a good run with the medical records review and loved doing it. Luckily, I got a remote work opportunity related to that, but the projects were not coming in as frequently as I needed them to be.
Get a Part-time Job.
I always believed in “don’t put your eggs in one basket.” So, here I am, at almost 4 in the morning, job hunting and trying to answer the question, “What more can I do?” During job hunts, that is the only time you will update your profile. While updating it, I tried visiting the content/blog websites that I submitted articles to. Sadly, most of them have not been able to keep up with the many changes from Google updates and the emerging AI technology.
Believe in yourself.
I saw a remote work opportunity for a proofreader for books and manuscripts. I remember getting a similar part-time job and liking it a few years back. I know I have the skills, so I applied. Well, no good news yet, but I am hopeful.
So here I am, trying to post something that may be relatable to almost everyone. Posting here offered respite from the current life’s challenges. It's like taking a walk to ease the anxiety of landing a good part-time job.
As I ponder on the past years and jobs, I can say I did and learned what I can. Thank you to the employers who trusted and taught me. However, it’s not yet the time to sit back and relax. So to you, reading this, keep going. As long as your neurons are firing up and they are sending the right messages to your brain, you can answer the question, “What more can you do?”
"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great."
