400 and Climbing: Celebrating 400 Articles on Hub Pages

Another Unexpected Milestone
This article marks another milestone for me here at HubPages. I have to admit that when I first started here I never expected to be still writing here after a year, let alone nine. Also, after only writing three articles in my first year I would not have believed I could ever attain 400 published works.
So, welcome to article/hub 400 from Jodah. I thank you for reading, and if you are a friend, colleague, or follower, thank you for your support and encouragement over all these years. It would be impossible for me to list everyone here who has inspired and encouraged me to keep writing, so I won't. I'd hate to miss someone, and, anyway, if you are reading this you are one of them.
Within those 400 articles, I have written a little bit of everything and have articles on seven different niche sites, so hopefully some of what I have written has appealed to the different demographics. That said, the majority of my published works here have been poetry. I know that isn't everyone's cup of tea so, over time, I have tried to add extra information to those articles to make them more appealing to the non-poetry inclined as well.
Because poetry will always be my first love in regard to writing it is only to be expected that I will include some poetry here in my 400th article. Windmills and Mother Nature's Palm were written some time ago but this is the first I have shared them here at HubPages. Grecian Urn is a short poem written specifically for Instagram but I am sharing it here as well.

Windmills
My life’s at Nature’s mercy
So I pray that she is kind.
Each year is spinning ’round and ’round
Like the windmills of my mind.
My blades are old and rusted,
But I hope the breeze blows strong
So they keep turning day by day
Like a catchy top 10 song.
My pump is working overtime
To ensure the waters flow,
But better to be overworked
Then broken, bent and slow.
If the wind should chance to cease
And all the air is still,
My blades will all stop turning
For I am at Gaia’s will.

Grecian Urn
Pompeii cowered in lava’s wake
A clay urn cracked and broke
Vesuvius compassion-less
Just molten rock and smoke.
Statues made of flesh and blood
Where living beings wept
None had time to flee or run
The volcano no more slept.

Mother Nature's Palm
On waking in my soft warm bed,
Wind howls outside these walls.
I watch the treetops bend and sway,
The sound of Nature calls.
Feeling lazy like a sloth
I push the bedspread back.
I yawn and put my feet to floor,
Then rub my aching back.
Shuffling to the kitchen,
I put the kettle on,
Then wander out onto the porch,
To butcher birds in song.
I sit back on my outdoor chair,
And look towards the trees,
A cat rubs up against my leg,
Where would I rather be?

Onward and Upward
So, with 400 hubs/articles down and dusted what is my next goal? Ten years at HubPages will be next, but that will come without any effort on my part. As long as HubPages keeps on keeping on, I will be here.
The next goal I have control over will be 500 articles. How long that will take me to achieve remains to be seen but I know a few fellow hubbers who have published over 1000 articles in less time than I have been here... billybuc, Eric Dierker, Kenneth Avery, and DreamOn to name a few. We all work at different rates and lead different lives so whatever milestones we can personally reach is significant.
Anyway, I wish you all success in whatever writing goals you are aiming for. From here it is just onward and upward, or as Buzz Lightyear would say "To infinity and beyond."
