Build Traffic Fast HubPages

Updated on May 24, 2010

Getting Started on HubPages

Getting started on HubPages can seem like a daunting task. First, you have to create an account, write a profile, edit your settings, and if you want to make money, you need to setup and enter your AdSense account number and other affiliate marketing account numbers as well. Most daunting of all, you need to create and publish several hubs.

Fortunately, most of these tasks are fairly straightforward. You can copy and paste a profile from elsewhere if you desire. After all, you can always add to it or modify it later. Creating an account is a no brainer, assuming that you aren't trying to cover your tracks with all new email accounts and phony information. And, while the HubPages author tools interface isn't the easiest to understand, a little bit of poking around will enable you to quickly enable and start earning money writing hubs via AdSense and other advertising programs. What is left is publishing some hubs.

To be successful on HubPages, you need more than just two or three hubs. In fact, several dozen hubs are probably required before you can honestly tell if HubPages is a good place to write for you. The oft mentioned HubPages Challenge of writing 30 Hubs in 30 Days is designed to meed this requirement. Otherwise, many writers get discouraged after publishing just a handful of hubs and then finding that those receive little or no traffic.

However, coming up with ideas for 30 Hubs isn't always easy, either. As a professional freelance writer, I seldom find it difficult to come up with good ideas to write about. However, I can find it difficult to sit down and crank out article after article in a single setting because as my mind focuses (even temporarily - thanks to my ADHD tips) it stops racing around generating new ideas for Hubs. What's more, is that trying to "force" your mind to come up with topics and writing ideas almost never works out very well.

Even if you have 30 ideas all ready to go, finding a 30-day time period that you feel comfortable committing to using for writing 30 hubs can be tough. That is where a mini-HubChallenge Super Speed Version can help.

Build Traffic Make Money HubPages

I've proposed the idea of a Lighting HubChallenge, where a Hubber publishes 30 Hubs in 30 Hours as one solution. Another idea for especially prolific writers is publishing 100 Hubs in 10 Days.
However, even these writing plan concepts with their fast turn-arounds and quick results require a multi-day commitment that can be tough to make for busy professionals. As it turns out, my freelance writing business makes it difficult for me to make these multiple day writing sessions work out. On the other hand, I know that the key to being a successful writer is writing, and lots of it. So, I'm trying out a new idea.
Instead of writing several hubs in several days, the ideas is to write a handful of hubs, but in a very short period of time. In this way, one still maximizes their chances for successfully starting a passive income writing business online here at HubPages without having to make a large time commitment. We'll call this one, the Mighty Mini HubChallenge.
