How To Deal With Rude Commenters

Updated on February 25, 2015

Internet Trolls

Have you ever had mean comments?

For the most part, hub pages is full of wonderful supportive readers, and their comments are none the less. Every once in a while you will come across a rude person commenting on your hubs. Whether this person is attacking you or just trying to argue with you about your hubs, it is a disruption you don’t want to deal with. A lot of people don’t like to see anything but their opinion and that can be pretty hard to deal with during debates. Debates can turn into something much worse.

I haven’t been here too long and I have already dealt with rude commenters. It seems like they only come to your page just to criticize you work. So how do you deal with them? Should you fight back? Ultimately, it depends on the situation and what they are saying. It is clearly okay to debate with others but only to the point where no name calling or attacking is happening. There are a lot of haters on the Internet and some people will just come on your page to create chaos especially random readers through search engines. Sometimes it can be good to have a little debate, but it usually doesn’t stay that way. If you see comments from these people that are getting too aggressive, I wouldn’t approve the comment and ignore it for your own sake. This has happened to me, and you can find a line between appropriate and just rude commenters.

I am an argumentative person by nature, and sometimes it can be hard to not have the last word. Sometimes it is just better to ignore that person and not let them have say in your work because all they are doing is criticizing it. Don’t let rude people upset you, because there are a lot of them out there. Focus on your work, and if someone doesn’t like it then that’s their problem. Be proud of how you write and what you know!

Stop by and visit me sometime here at the hub pages, because I've written a similar hub also. The hub pages are full of some of the nicest people in the world, however there's a rotten apple in every bunch. Hopefully people here won't meet a rude person, but when it happens just ignore them, move on, and delete their childish comment.

It is kind of amusing to think about what kind of lives these people live. I have a conscience too and I could never do that stuff. hahaa:)

Do you guys (ladies) ever beat your brains out trying to figure out what makes people like this do what they do? I can never stop doing this, but of course I’m pretty compulsive and can never stop analyzing everything. I could never hurt anyone but, I was not born like this, I was taught ethics, virtue and to have a strong sense of shame. Now its pretty hard to do or say something negative to someone with out making myself crazy thinking how I would feel if someone did the same to me.

But what do I know I’m just a simple country boy and I can't resist making a comment where I am the only guy.

Thanks:) yeah I always seem to approve them, but once it just keeps going on as a on going fight, I just deny it lol. Some people just arent worth it. That's a mean thing to say, I can't believe people comment just to be rude.

Really great advice on people who make rude comments. I'm always afraid of finding rude comments. I had one that was kind of rude. I approved it at first, then denied it and it was gone. Great hub!

I agree. People who make comments that hurt are propably people who would love to be able to write. I think my most hurtful comment was from a person who said that he loved my poem but the rhyming was not that good. HaHa.. Cheers

I just have to say that i didn't care for this hub, i thought it was a waste of time to read, haha just kidding. I couldn't help myself when i saw the topic.

Great hub, very well written. I agree, it is no fun dealing with rude people that only take pleasure in creating despair for others. Kinda scary that there are so many of them out there.
